to explore the Southern Midlands, stopping in at
the quaint Georgian villages that originated as
coaching stops and military garrisons in the early
1800s. Pop into the antique stores, art galleries
and boutique shops, and refuel at the local
restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and distilleries.
Explore grand estates, Georgian cottages, and
gothic churches. Gain fascinating insight into
19th century life and the colourful characters of
the time, including wealthy landowners, farmers,
bushrangers and convicts. Spot bushrangers,
coaches, soldiers, and convict chain gangs near the
roadside – the sculptures make up the Shadows of
the Past Silhouette Trail.
