Peach Pie
National Peach Pie day is August 24,
just in time for peaches, ripe for the
picking.
Ingredients:
1 classic pie crust, unbaked
Filling:
5 cups peaches, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
½ cup white sugar (use less if the
peaches are really sweet)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
Prepare classic pie crust recipe. Do not bake.
Mix all filling ingredients in a large bowl. Place in pie crust. Dot the peaches with butter.
Pat the remaining crust mixture loosely onto the peaches, forming a crumb topping, covering the filling
completely.
To keep the crust from burning, cover the edges with aluminum foil.
Bake in 350ºF oven for 35-40 minutes. It's done when the juices are bubbling and the crust is golden
brown.
