DBSPTA-PD 9/2019

Message from the Chairperson
2019 is a remarkable year to the DBS community as we
honour our 150 th Anniversary. My warmest welcome to all
Grade One boys and families as you join us just in time for a
series of celebration. I am sure you are getting ready for your
wonderful journey at DBSPD. In the coming years, you will
be cheering for your boys when they are sweating in sport
field, shedding tears when they make the music of angels on
stage, getting amazed at their creative work and bursting into
laughter when they simply do silly things with classmates.
I have enjoyed all these in the past eight years with my two
boys at DBSPD and for sure our school will bring these
precious moments to your family, too.
Having served in the PTA for eight years, I have witnessed
the evolvement of the PTA to an active and energetic
committee engaging in lots of school functions and students’
development. “Unity of home and school, life with love and
care” has always been my motto since I started serving the
PTA. While school plays an important role in education, it is
only with the concerted efforts of parents and teachers that
positive values and attitudes can be instilled effectively in
our boys. We are the gardeners, and together we lay fertile
soil for our boys to blossom into prosperity.
Being a parent member in DBS family is a unique experience.
At DBSPD, parents are encouraged to be involved in our
boys’ learning and development at school. Not only the boys
are busy in various learning opportunities, but parents also
have a share in most school events. In the past year our PTA
had a busy schedule in various vibrant school events and
PTA-organized activities. Cheers and happiness were with
us in many of these activities and there were also challenges
along the way. We are grateful to have received lots of
positive feedbacks and it is certainly the dedicated work of
all parties that makes the school academia, environment and
programs to move forward.
This newsletter has summarized our work in the past year.
To me it is a collection of happy memories with my fellow
parents and PTA executive committee members. The job
would not be accomplished without the unrelenting support
from Ms. Phyllis Lo and other teachers. Credits also go to
the parent volunteers who have squeezed their precious
time serving in PTA activities. I sincerely hope that you
have enjoyed the year with PTA as much as I have. As my
little boy steps into the Secondary Division, it is time for me
to bid farewell to you all. I am confident that the DBSPTA-
PD will continue the mission of serving the school, students
and parents. Hong Kong is in a very challenging time. It is
everyone’s duty to safeguard our home and advance forward
to a brighter future. “Learners today, Leaders tomorrow”. With
the faithful nurturing environment of DBS, we look forward
to seeing a new generation of leaders for a better Hong Kong.
May I wish you all a fruitful journey as part of the DBS family
in the years ahead.
Message from the Headteacher
The year which marks the DBS 150 th Anniversary has been a year of blessings. Many successful and memorable
functions were organized in collaboration with parents, and all events have been well attended.
I hope all parents would share my joy to see our PD boys benefiting from the events organized throughout the
year funded and supported by the PTA. The service learning programmes namely the Box of Hope, Famine
Programme and Visit to the Elderly Centre that the PTA helped organize this year offered valuable learning
opportunities for our boys to learn the virtues of being compassionate and considerate to those whose needs
are different from our own.
In addition, I am pleased to report on the Annual Giving Programme of the 2018-2019 school year. With the
generous support offered by our PD parents, we were able to raise over HK$12,700,000 to meet the school’s
needs! Money raised was used to purchasing new iPads, installing new drinking fountains, providing STEM
learning kits for our boys, and sponsoring learning programmes such as the Outward Bound Experiential
Camp and Extended Learning Weeks. Besides, on-going curriculum development, staff development, and
landscape maintenance work are also made possible.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the DBSPTA-PD, especially the Chairman, Dr.
William Chan, for their excellent work in organizing the PTA activities and their continuous support in all
school events. The forth-coming academic year will undoubtedly be another exciting and challenging year,
and I look forward to our continued partnership and your full support!
Message from the Vice Chairperson
Being a DBSPD parent reminds me how it was like being a student here decades ago: there is no room for
complacency. Just when you think you are “getting the hang of it”, the bar is set higher. If not for the wisdom of many
of my classmates and “big brothers”, my DBS experience would have been very different. Similarly, if not for the
helping hands of so many parents, my wife and I would not have survived the first two years. In both cases, strong
bonds were formed; bonds that would last a lifetime.
Indeed, one of the main goals of the PTA is to foster and facilitate bonding between parents. As you can see from
this newsletter, the PTA organizes a rich program of activities each year intended to bring us all closer together and
to help families get more out of the DBSPD experience. We treasure your participation and we thank you for your
support throughout the year.
None of our initiatives would have been possible without the active support from the School Faculty. We are most
grateful to Ms. Lo, Ms. Ng and all the teachers who have been involved in the PTA in the past year. Thank you for
your invaluable support and guidance. You have made a real difference in our work and it has been a true pleasure
working with you all!
Message from the Treasurer
My older boy Jasper is heading to Grade 6 this
academic year which means this could be very
well be my last year serving the PD PTA if I
have the opportunity. Looking back at the past
four years of serving the PTA is filled with fond
memories and I am extremely pleased.
As Treasurer, I have to make sure I provide
supports to all PTA events with smooth and clear
transactions. The responsibilities were high, and
again, thanks to my wife, Paulum, I managed to
get all the jobs done in a good way.
Events Photography
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my
PTA Photography team including Eric, Wallace,
Carmon, Hang, James and Victor, the list goes
on…for their tremendous support to our PTA events over the year. Without them, we couldn’t have captured all the
exciting moments. Huge appreciation to everyone on the PTA Photography team!
Mr. Kinson Cheung
Treasurer
Event Photography Coordinator
Message from the Secretary (English)
Welcome back to DBSPD. I am extremely honored to be PTA Exco
member for 3 years. Apart from being a lunch convenor of lunch subcommittee,
I’ve also helped to be a secretary in the committee. This is
my first time to be a secretary in the committee and I feel very excited
to work with each of the Exco. It’s been a pleasure to help prepare
the committee administrative work with Paulina. Thank you Paulina
for her support to me in the past one year. I also have the opportunity
to organize and work with other Exco of the PTA for the many of the
events including Garden Fete, Cleaning Day, G6 Graduation Dinner,
Café PEP in Open House, two Parents’ Seminars, PTA Sports Events,
Parents’ Tea Reception and all the lunch events and activities.
As the lunch sub-committee convenor, I would like to thank Ms.
Phyllis Lo who has brainstormed a very good idea of delivering
fresh veggies pilot scheme to different classes starting in June. The
pilot scheme was very successful and supported by parent helpers.
Moreover, I would like to say thank you to Mr. Kelvin Lau (SD) who
lead us through many of the challenges for lunch service, Mr. Sammy
Ho (PD) who worked hand in hand with me on some of the pilot
schemes as well as with the lunch tastings and meetings. Moreover,
I would like to say thank you to chairman, William who explored my
potential and encouraged me from organizing lunch events and handled most of the regular lunch issues.
In conclusion, after organized and participated all the PTA activities and school events, I’ve witnessed that our boys
and parents are extremely super talent in different areas. Not only smart in academic and work, but also excellent in
working well with each other. I would like to take this opportunity to share one inspiring quote, “Great minds discuss
ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
Message from the Secretary (Chinese)
Hi everyone, I am Paulina Pau, and my two boys are in G8
and G6. It’s my honour and great pleasure to serve in DBSPD-
PTA for seven years! Thanks for School’s recognition, trust and
appreciation, my family’s and many parents’ support in the past
years. These elements always motivate and drive me to serve
with passion. My sons are also very happy to see me at School as I
actively participate in many events throughout 2018-19.
Through organizing School Garden Fete, Café PEP on Open Day,
Parent Volunteers’ Tea Party, leading Community Service Subcommittee,
and working with other ExCo members on sports
related events, Cleaning Day, Lunch Sub-committee activities, my
involvement in PTA and interaction with School and parents is
even more solid and reliable than before. Not only have I witnessed the growth of my sons and many PD boys, I have
also learnt a lot from the work of PTA and witnessed changes and improvement achieved each year.
The signature event Garden Fete was successfully held on 11 November 2018. It was also my seventh year to help
organize this big annual event. Every year I was amazed by the heartfelt and holistic support from over a hundred
parent volunteers. We all sweated out during the day but I saw lots of smiling faces around me. It’s also a good and
happy experience to work with Franklin that took care of Fete Lunch.
With the great support and trust from Ms. Lo, Ms. Natalie Ng, Dr. Nadia Chan, Mr. Nick Leung, Ms. Jen Wan, all
teachers, staff of General Office, William, Joseph, Kinson, Julissa, Peter, ExCo members, parents, boys and my family,
my passion in PTA can be sustained since I am a DBSPD parent seven years ago! I am also very happy to see that a
variety of PTA events could be launched smoothly and with great success!
This newsletter shows our work in the 2018-19. Teamwork is always essential and necessary. I am glad that I am
surrounded by love, blessings, care, and support for most of the time and I am sure that I can continue to embrace
challenges and overcome difficulties. I humbly look forward to the opportunity to serve School and our community
in the years ahead.
Ms. Paulina Pau
Secretary (Chinese)
Message from the Convenor of Subcommittees and Activities
Traffic Sub-Committee
It has been my great pleasure to serve in the Traffic
Sub-committee with a group of helpful teachers and
volunteer parents. In 2018-19, 636 boys chose to take
our school bus service, which was roughly 70% of total
student number. PD roundabout has limited space
for our buses to park there at school dismissal, hence
it is difficult to expand the current fleet of 31 buses.
Our Sub-committee has been working with Poon’s
to handle all inquiries and suggestions from parents
on our bus routes. I would like to thank all parents
who have contributed in the discussion and their kind
understanding on the matters. Safety is the top priority
and we always remind parents and boys to avoid
walking on car path inside campus. We also need the
help of parents to avoid parking along the Access Road from Argyle Street to school.
We also had the tendering process for our school bus service and Poon’s came back with the best proposal among
all bidders, especially the ability to provide extra 5pm ECA bus service. We had three Traffic meetings this year with
Poon’s and we are thankful of the precious time from many teachers who joined our Traffic meetings, including Ms.
Phyllis Lo, Ms. Natalie Ng, Mrs. Vivian Chu, Ms. Jenny Lo, Mr. Anthony Lau, Mr. Ryan Li and Mr. Calvin Chan.
Lunch Sub-committee
Lunch matter is very important indeed for our DBSPD boys, and it is our tremendous pleasure to have worked with
Mr. Sammy Ho (PD teacher), Mr. Kelvin Lau (SD teacher) and the staffs from Asia Pacific Catering Corporation
(“catering company”) this year.
In addition to the regular activities organized by the Lunch Sub-committee throughout the year, as listed below, a
meeting was specifically organized with the catering company management team on March 21 st , which was attended
by Mr. Tommy Cheung (DBS Committee Member), Mr. Lau, Mr. Ho, PTA Exco Members and Lunch Sub-Committee
members. All parties have frankly exchanged their views at this productive meeting and afterwards, the catering
company released a much wider list of lunch choices to our students, to their huge delights.
We are confident our boys are already looking forward to our Lunch in the coming year with plenty of excitement!
Below is a recap of the activities held throughout last school year.
1) We organized the first Lunch Sub-committee meeting on 30 th October 2018. One to two class reps from each class
were nominated soon afterward, in order to collect and reflect comments about lunch issues.
2) First Lunch Tasting and Kitchen Visit were organized during the week of November 19 th . Thank you for all the
parents who joined and gave constructive comments.
3) Second Lunch Tasting was organized during the week of March 11 th 2019. The feedbacks received were quite
satisfactory, which is a testament to the good efforts put in by the catering company.
Sports Sub-committee
It is always a great honor to be part of the DBSPTA. We are delighted to
be assigned as the convener of Sports Sub-committee. We have hosted
several amazing sports activities over the past year. This include Soccer
Fun Day, Sports Carnival, and Fun Sports Day!
It was grateful to have the great support from other PTA Exco members
and fellow parents’ helpers. The PTA sports events cannot be so
successful without their tremendous contributions.
Below is the list of Sports events. Please refer to the PTA activities
section for the details of each events.
a. Soccer Fun Day – 14 October 2018
b. PTA Sports Carnival – 16 December 2018
c. Fun Sports Day - 16 Jun 2019
We have also formally set up the PTA basketball team and make a new
We would like to once again thank the PTA Exco teammates and parent
helpers from the bottom of our heart. We wouldn’t have succeeded
without their help. It is an honor to work with everyone in the PTA. We
wish everyone has a wonderful year. See you around!
Community Service Sub-committee
Established in 2015, Community Service Sub-committee to encourage
DBSPD students and their families to participate in community
service activities and help people in need. The happiness I gained
is very precious and I am glad to work with ExCo member Michael
Cheung to launch a variety of activities throughout the school year.
We are blessed that many parents helped wholeheartedly to support
us, and are touched when we saw lots of smiling faces and received
appreciation among parents.
In Community Service subcommittee, we strive to connect our boys
and parents to better serve our local community and those in needs.
The last twelve months have been fun, rewarding and educational for
me. I get to know the DBSPD family better and make a lot of new friends with a shared purpose. I would strongly
recommend all our fellow students and their parents to join our events in the coming year. As a first year PTA exco
member, I am thankful to my fellow convenor Paulina and other experienced members in organising and managing
events smoothly and attending to fellow parents needs and enquiries.
Michael and I wanted to introduce new community service activity to parents and students in 2018-19. Thanks our
Vice-Chairperson Joseph for introducing the organization - Food Angel to us.
Environmental Protection Sub-committee
The Green Sub-committee was formed last year to help with furthering
the school’s environmental protection agenda. Working very closely
with Ms. Phyllis Lo, Ms. Michelle Ng, Mr. Sammy Ho and leveraging on
our student ambassadors, we managed to achieve quite a few impactful
changes.
1. Installation of new water fountains/Reducing single-use plastic in
tuck shop
One of the first changes in the year was the installation of new water
fountains. After the fountains were installed, our student ambassadors
proposed to the tuck shop that we should stop selling bottled water.
In addition, our ambassadors also recommended ways in which the tuck shop can reduce styrofoam containers and
other single-use plastic utensils. These recommendations were promptly accepted and rolled out.
2. Composting
We generate hundreds of kilograms of food waste each week. After evaluating the feasibility of having a composting
machine on-site, we decided to use a third-party composting service provider instead. Now, all food waste from lunch
are composted.
3. Green uniform
Thanks to the great support from our parents and boys, PTA Green Uniform programme collected around 400 pieces
of used uniforms. We were grateful to many parent volunteers who helped us in sorting and screening on 16 May,
and distribution on 17 May (Parents’ Day). Most of our used uniforms found new home among our boys. With the
remaining 50 uncollected pieces (mainly PE uniforms), we shipped them to an Orphanage in the Philippines. Our
school started as an Orphanage itself 150 years ago and it is meaningful that our used uniforms can find new masters
in another Orphanage.
4. Promoting Green in school events
Working with parent and student volunteers, we started recycling stations during the Open Day. We also reminded
parents and guests to bring their own reusable utensils and water bottles. However, the results were mixed. We will
learn from our experience and aim for better results next time.
5. Teaching Green
The Sub-committee worked closely with Dr. Nadia Chan and Ms. Michelle Ng to introduce a Green program for G5
students during the Extended Learning Week. Over 30 parents volunteered to help develop and deliver the weeklong
program that culminated in many bright ideas to save the environment and a presentation to the Secretary for
the Environment Mr. Wong Kam Sing.
I want to thank Ms. Jennifer Wang who has done most of the heavy lifting from the parent end; Mr. Victor Lee and
Ms. Hilary Choi for leading the Green Uniform effort and to the many parent volunteers who have given us so much
of their time and ideas.
Special thanks to Ms. Lo for your leadership, Ms. Michelle Ng and Mr. Sammy Ho for your dedication to Green and
the extra hours you put in. We would also like to thank Dr. Nadia Chan for giving us the opportunity to work on the
ELW program.
Garden Fete Lunch
The Fete Lunch is another annual DBS tradition held along with the Garden Fete in early November. While it is part
of the overall fund raising activity, it serves a special purpose. Only G1 and G7 parents are invited as volunteers, as
the idea is for new members of the DBS family to get familiar with the school as well as among themselves.
Preparation work started two months ahead of the event in September. Looking back, the active volunteer enrolment
on day one had already foretold great teamwork. Thanks team leaders for their planning and organization, and
parent members for their selfless contribution.
This year, we echoed the school’s environment-friendly theme by reducing use of plastic. Some guests even
supported the theme by bringing their own utensils. By setting a precedent, the Fete Lunch has encouraged all
subsequent PTA events to adopt the 3R principle, and we hope teams in the future to carry the theme further in the
years to come.
PTA committee would like to take this opportunity
to express our deepest thanks to all volunteer parents
and the school, making this year’s Fete Lunch
another great success. Not only had we raised more
funds this year than the past year, more importantly,
parents have become more acquainted with each
other via the ever-strong bondage to the school.
In January, a thank you lunch was held for fete
lunch volunteers, joined by the Headmaster and the
Headteacher. It was a big happy re-union, filled with
joys and laughers. The selfie by the Headmaster
(who surprisingly climbed onto a chair for the best
shot) with all parents at the end of the lunch was
definitely the highlight of that day, if not for the
overall Fete Lunch event.
Cleaning Day
Mr. Franklin Poon
Convenor of Social Activities
This year’s School Cleaning Day went through a gripping rollercoaster
ride of last-minute thrills and rushes : two weeks prior to the
planned event, which had been advanced to the chilly late-winter
of 18 January as opposed to the customary February, an outbreak
of “Influenza A” swept through Hong Kong sending havocs to
schools and families. Although the School had already been on high
vigilance with extra precautionary measures, cases of students fallen
ill continued to edge closer to the alert level as the countdown to the
School Cleaning Day ticked away. Then on just three days before the
actual event, the inevitable struck! With more than 20 reported cases
of sick leaves accumulated, the Centre for Health Protection had to be
notified. The traditional Grade-5 toilet cleaning event was cancelled.
Students were advised not to congregate at the School Hall to avoid
cross-contamination. The guest speaker for the planned Health Talk and Quiz had to be apologetically turned away.
The exhilarating final prize-announcement was much water-downed through televised broadcast to the respective
classrooms. All such decisions were made and revised in the final two days.
Sweating thrills aside, the fun and joy of the cleaning craze on the day for the students and parent helpers were not
diminished by the re-arrangement disappointment. It was nevertheless a good life lesson for everyone to get a firsthand
experience of the importance of personal and environmental hygiene, as well as to show gratitude to the school
janitors who have been working behind the scene to keep us safe, which is the very purpose the School Cleaning Day
is meant for.
My special thanks to Headteacher Ms Lo, Event-in-charge Ms. Natalie Ng, PTA(PD) Chairman Dr. William Chan
and Dr. Peter Lam, who had given their enormous supports and professional advice on outbreak control to pull off
the event. Also my gratefulness for the 100-plus voluntary parent helpers to make this event possible with touching
positivism.
PTA Outing
It’s my honour to help organising the PTA Outing this year. We had about
532 people joining the event in Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp on May
13 . We were blessed with a beautiful day, after days of rain, which made it
perfect for outing!
At the campsite, boys and families enjoyed many activities such as cycling,
swimming, go-kart, archery, trampoline, air hockey, bouncy castle and all sort
of ball games, etc.
We also added an Orienteering program as an additional fun of the PTA
Outing . Through this activity, our boys can learn to be more self-reliant
and develop individual skills in navigation and problem solving by locating
each control point and finally reaching their destination. We are delighted
that over 80% of the families decided to join the orienteering program.
Participants started with a 75-min training session in the morning to learn
and practice basic orienteering skills. They were then divided into 3 age
groups to have a 45-min competition in the afternoon. It was an exhilarating
race! Parents were eagerly awaiting and cheering at the finishing line for their
boys. Winning medals and completion certificates were awarded at the end.
We are so thrilled that we got many positive responses from parents for this
new venture. Boys also asked if they can do it again in the near future. It was
indeed a fun and memorable day!
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Dr.
William Chan and all the wonderful PTA Exco members for their timely
support before and on the event day. Special thanks to my teammates, Victor
Lee and Ryan Chan for their unreserved sharing and seamless collaboration
throughout the process. Last but not least, this event could not be successful
without the excellent support from Ms Lo, Ms Ng and all related school staff.
I am very grateful to be part of the PTA team this year to help to facilitate the communication between school and
parents through different incidents and occasions. By helping out in many school events as an Exco member this year,
I slowly got to know the school better and became more appreciative of its unwavering determination to make it a
better school for our boys. I am proud of being a DBSPD parent!
Academic & Education Affairs
It was exciting to have two insightful speakers for our Parent
Seminars during 2018-19. The first Seminar was held on 26 January
2019 by Professor Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung ( 沈 祖 堯 教 授 ) on the topic
of “This is the Me Me Me Generation”. Professor Sung was Vice-
Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) during
2010-2017. Around 200 PD and SD parents joined the Seminar and
Professor Sung shared his thought about the challenges facing our
next generation. The second Seminar was held on 4 May 2019 by
Dr. Annis Lai Chu FUNG ( 馮 麗 姝 博 士 ) on the topic of “The Art of
Parenting: Self-centredness and Aggression of Children”. Dr. FUNG
is an Associate Professor of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the
City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and she gave our parents her
professional advice about anti-bullying. PD parents were also invited
by DBSPTA-SD to join their Parenting Seminar on 18 May 2019 by
Dr. Agnes Chan ( 陳 美 齡 博 士 ) and our parents learned a lot from the talk.
We also tried for the first time to arrange some Educational visits, including Visit to Hong Kong Observatory for some
G5 boys, Visit to Civil Aviation Department - Education Path for some G4 boys. We may arrange more of these visits
in future if we find good opportunities.
Information Technology and Communication
I am greatly honored and privileged to have taken part in the DBSPTA
Exco 2018-19. I am mainly responsible to revamp the DBSPTA-PD
website and assist to organize PTA sports events. A new PTA website
(https://www.dbspta-pd.com) was launched before Open House Day.
The new PTA website has adopted the latest responsive web design and
was mobile friendly.
With the help of the DBS secondary division, we can record the video
for Professor Joseph Sung’s 1 st parent seminar and streamline the videos
through an online video streaming platform. Parents who cannot attend
the seminar can still watch the video of the talk through the Internet.
We have also set up the IT sub-committee and recruited several
members to help. Last but not least, we have redesigned the PTA
newsletter which you
are reading now and add
more photos and pages.
The new design also included a new photo gallery and a video.
Thank you for the support of Schools management team, headteacher
Ms. Lo, Chairperson Dr. Willian Chan and other PTA executive
committee members in the past year. Special thanks to parent helpers
- Chung Kim Hang and Venchilli Leung for helping to revamp the
DBSPTA-PD website and design the PTA Chinese New Year e-card and
PTA newsletter video. We cannot make it without their dedication.
Cleaning Day (18 January 2019)
The School Cleaning Day is a traditional parents' frenzy who are just as excited as the competing boys. Without
exception, this year's enrollment for parent helpers had exceeded 200, twice the amount of manpower needed for
supervision assistance. Many parents enjoyed seeing their boys' complete absorption into rubbing and dusting, a
rare view to many but certainly a funny one to all. The joys of the families made no escape from the camera lenses.
DBSPD was once again filled with laughters and brave faces to give it's best to prepare for the upcoming Open Day
despite the looming flu threat.
family members had spent a wonderful evening at the Kerry Hotel, bringing back happy moments they have for the
past 6 years. The class performances were fantastic which has pushed the event to a climax. This memorable event
would not be successful without the greatest help of all OC members who contributed their valuable time, effort and
expertise. Special thanks to Dr. William Chan, Ms. Ceci Wong for leading OC and parent helpers to arrange and
proceed to different tasks over eight months. We would also like to thank Headteacher Ms. Lo and Dr. Nadia Chan
Knitting Event (Nov 2018)
The meaningful event was launched for two consecutive years. We encouraged parents and teachers to participate
and complete the knitted scarfs at home. We aimed to deliver these handmade items to the elderlies during winter
season. With a very strong collaboration with teachers and parents, together we produced over 120 knitted scarfs in 2
months’ time!
Visit 獨 居 長 者 (15 June and 6 July 2019)
After the final exam, we organized a visit for our subcom members to single elderly home at Lam Tin on June 15 and
July 6. About 30 families participated and each family visit two elderlies to learn more about their daily living and
how they lived by themselves and looked after each other. It was so touching that one of the elderlies gave each boy a
package of self-made bean bag and sharing how this is being played when she was young.
2 nd Hand book fair (6 July 2019)
This event was widely received by parents and students since 2016. Our goals are to
promote the joy of reading, enhance environmental awareness and encourage students
to donate old textbooks and leisure books that are no longer in use to benefit other
boys who love to read. Many parents and boys came to the classroom to read and buy
happily on the event day!
Environmental Protection
Green Uniform (17 May 2019)
PTA Green Uniform programme collected around 400 pieces of used uniforms. Most of our used uniforms found
new home among our boys. With the remaining 50 uncollected pieces (mainly PE uniforms), we shipped them to an
Orphanage in the Philippines.
Our school started as an Orphanage itself 150 years ago and it is meaningful that our used uniforms can find new
masters in another Orphanage.
