MUSIC Classical round-up SATURDAY 19, 3PM Far From the Home I Love Hamsey resident and internationally acclaimed pianist, Margaret Fingerhut set herself the goal this year of raising £88,000 (£1,000 for each of the 88 keys on a piano) to help support refugees, through a recital series that she’s taking around the country. This month she’s at Alfriston Church, playing a programme that includes works by Chopin, Grieg, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov, as well as a newly commissioned piece by Kurdish Syrian composer Moutaz Arian. So many composers have over the years had to leave their homes because of war, political upheaval or fear of persecution. Far From the Home I Love, in aid of Lewes Organisation in Support of Refugees and Asylum Seekers (LOSRAS) tells the stories of some of those composers through their music.
