Liam Cartwright was born in Worcestershire and was educated in Malvern.

During this time, he studied Piano with Jill Polyblank and Organ with Trevor

Tipple, and was named Worcestershire Young Musician of the Year in 2000.

Liam subsequently undertook undergraduate and postgraduate studies in

organ performance at the Royal College of Music, where his teachers included

Margaret Phillips and David Graham, as well as Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-

Choplin in London and Paris. He held the organ scholarship at Farm Street

Church in Mayfair, and continued Piano studies with Kathron Sturrock and

Harpsichord studies with Robert Woolley.

Liam has subsequently pursued a career as a solo performer, educator, choral

conductor and church musician. As a recitalist he has recently performed at

Southwark and Truro Cathedrals, and in 2009 gave a recital on the newly

refurbished Grand Organ in St. Paul’s Cathedral. He has appeared at the Three

Choirs and Edinburgh Festivals, and future engagements include recitals at

Leicester, Chester, Blackburn and Coventry Cathedrals, Blenheim Palace, and

in the City of London.

Since 2011, Liam has held the post of Director of Music at All Saints’ Parish

Church, High Wycombe, in the Diocese of Oxford, where his duties centre

around the weekly singing of the liturgy, as well as overseeing the music for

the various Civic and Diocesan services and events which take place at this

busy town centre church. Under Liam’s direction, the choir of All Saints’ have

undertaken residencies at St. Albans, Southwark and Rochester Cathedrals,

have appeared on the BBC television show Strictly Come Dancing.
