Edo 2020: Owan West leaders adopt Obaseki for 2nd term Ekpenkhio, Sir. Peter By Alemma Aliu BENIN CITY— LEADERS from the eleven wards from Owan West local government area yesterday said they are backing Governor Godwin Obaseki for a second term because according to them he has not derailed from they were told three years ago that he would do as governor. Speaking to journalists after in Benin City where they are going to drive the Obaseki/Shaibu second term project in Owan West, the leaders said they were representing the views of the people of the area. Among the leaders were former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Joe Eguaboi, former Deputy Speaker, Hon Omon Ezomon, Hon Blessing Agbebaku, Legal Adviser of Edo APC, Ohioma George, Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Dame Omona Oni-Okpaku, Hon Ojo Asein, Hon Jinfred Obaidiku and Hon Inumidum Idehen Special Adviser to Obaseki on Strategic Planning and Programme Management Office, Dr. Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, recalled that Oshiomhole introduced Obaseki as someone who would tackle issues such as “carrying out difficult political reforms, blockage of financial leakages, war <strong>against</strong> hooliganism, institution of a new social order, human capital development and sustain the tempo of infrastructural development.” She said Obaseki has not deviated from these things. Chairman of Owan West local government, Mr. Frank Ilaboya, said all the leaders of the locality have resolved to deliver on the mandate. On his part, Ekpenkhio, said Obaseki’s developmental strides have touched all parts of the state. “From Edo North through Edo Central to Edo South, Obaseki has touched all parts of the state. The development is visible. Look at infrastructure. Roads are being tarred. Industrial park is coming. “Go to Agenebode, Sobe and Warrake, farmers there are happy. That is why we want to give him the second term so that there will be more dividends of democracy. Go to any primary health centres, nurses and doctors are on duty.” Unemployment: Look beyond white collar jobs, Ibekwe charges youths By Olasunkanmi Akoni LAGOS—AS part of measures to reduce unemployment in the country, a multi-level marketing and manufacturing company, Norland Nigeria, has advised jobless youths in the country to explore other means to make a living rather than seeking white collar jobs. Mrs Anthonia Ibekwe, Co-founder of the organisation, gave the advice, weekend, while speaking with newsmen during the Norland’s second anniversary celebration and awards in Lagos. Ibekwe said that the number of formal jobs was shrinking in the country, urging youths to explore many opportunities outside the formal settings to be engaged and lead productive lives. “Many youths are unemployed today, because they believe they must work in offices, and so they are searching endlessly for white-collar jobs. "There is nothing wrong in looking for jobs in offices, but the reality is that the jobs are no more there. “Our youths should explore many opportunities outside the formal setting, instead of remaining unemployed, looking for what is not sure,” she said. The Norland co-founder said the organisation had touched the lives of many in various ways since it came to the country two years ago. Ibekwe said the company, through its health and lifestyle products, had improved the wellbeing and living standard of many Nigerians.
