Square can participate in<br />

a variety of programs to<br />

help support Susan G. Komen<br />

throughout the month<br />

of October. As part of the<br />

Digital Discount Pass Program,<br />

shoppers who make<br />

a $10 donation will receive<br />

a discount valid for<br />

25 or 15 percent off one<br />

single item at participating<br />

retailers. Also, shoppers<br />

can purchase a specially<br />

marked Visa Simon Giftcard<br />

at Guest Services or<br />

the Mall Office. Simon<br />

will donate $1 to Komen<br />

for every gift card purchased.<br />

In 2018, Simon raised<br />

more than $550,000 to<br />

benefit Susan G. Komen<br />

through the support and<br />

participation of shoppers,<br />

retailers and employees.<br />

executive chef<br />

Smith Crossing recently<br />

welcomed David Hardy,<br />

36, as the life plan community’s<br />

new executive<br />

chef serving 300 residents<br />

on its 32-acre campus in<br />

Orland Park.<br />

Prior to accepting his<br />

new post, Hardy was the<br />

executive chef at Ditka’s<br />

Restaurant in the Tremont<br />

Hotel off Michigan Avenue<br />

in Chicago. Before<br />

that, he was executive chef<br />

at SafeHouse Chicago.<br />

Hardy strives to use<br />

fresh, sustainable and locally<br />

grown ingredients.<br />

Patrick McShane re-elected<br />

as group director for CBAI<br />

Nick Lorenz receives Ben<br />

Marcus Humanitarian<br />

Award<br />

The Marcus Corporation<br />

recently announced Nick<br />

Lorenz as one of three recipients<br />

of the 2018 Ben<br />

Marcus Humanitarian of<br />

the Year Award.<br />

Lorenz, a resident of<br />

Peotone, is a special needs<br />

associate at the Orland<br />

Park Cinema.<br />

The Ben Marcus Humanitarian<br />

Award, named<br />

after Marcus Corporation<br />

founder Ben Marcus,<br />

builds on the company’s<br />

legacy of community involvement<br />

by recognizing<br />

exceptional associates<br />

who have gone above and<br />

beyond in their volunteering<br />

for others.<br />

Lorenz is active in Special<br />

Olympics Illinois and<br />

several other nonprofits.<br />

He has been an athlete<br />

with Special Olympics for<br />

16 years, and in his role<br />

as a global messenger has<br />

given many speeches to<br />

other organizations and<br />

audiences. He raises money<br />

for Special Olympics<br />

Illinois through the Polar<br />

Plunge and Chicago Duck<br />

Derby. He has raised more<br />

than $75,000 for the Chicago<br />

Duck Derby and was<br />

recently interviewed on<br />

Chicago’s WGN radio for<br />

his success with that event.<br />

He also volunteered at the<br />

Special Olympics World<br />

Games held in Los Angeles<br />

in 2015 and last year<br />

at Special Olympics’ 50th<br />

anniversary in Chicago.<br />

In addition to his commitment<br />

to Special Olympics,<br />

Lorenz has won awards for<br />

his participation and volunteer<br />

work with Lincoln<br />

Way Special Recreation<br />

Association and is also a<br />

member of the Knights of<br />

Columbus.<br />

To recognize the commitment<br />

of Lorenz to the<br />

community, The Marcus<br />

Corporation donated $500<br />

each to the Lincoln Way<br />

Special Recreation Association<br />

and Special Olympics<br />

Illinois.
