The Camping.com CEO
said that the weather was
more important for those
having a holiday under
canvas, for obvious reasons.
The premium is somewhere
between 3 to 8% of the
cost of the holiday depending
on the likelihood of rain
based on time of year and
destination.
Around 72 hours before
the break if the forecast is
poor, customers can cancel
their vacation and receive a
refund.
The three destination
countries covered are Spain,
Italy and France with no
current plans to spread the
scheme out to wetter places
such as the UK.
Rebuilding her life
AN ELCHE woman lured
into a dangerous cult in
Peru has said she can
‘now get on with her life’
after hearing her captor
has had his 20 year jail
term confirmed by the
country’s highest court.
20-year-old Patricia Aguilar
Poveda has been officially
informed by Peruvian
authorities that the so-called
‘guru’ Felix Manrique who
kept her and other women
captive, raped them and
forced them to bear his children,
would not be released
for two decades, after trying
to appeal the sentence
that was handed down
last spring.
Patricia’s father Alberto
says she is ‘recovering well’
from the mental and physical
damage caused by her
ordeal, and has gone back
to college.
Now, with family support
and a healthy 17-monthold
daughter, Patricia has
spent the last year taking
an access course to make up
for her lack of senior school
studies at Elche’s Victoria
Kent college.
She was ‘groomed’ by Steven
Manrique, now 35, when
she was an emotionallyvulnerable
teen grieving
over the sudden death of
her uncle.
Manrique claimed to be
Dad and daughter, last year

a ‘guru’, heading up a sect
which called itself ‘Gnosis’,
and who told Patricia online
that he had been chosen by
God to help repopulate the
earth and needed her to join
him in his ‘mission’.
She flew out to Peru on her
18th birthday in January
2017 by stealing the family
savings, and spent months

living in semi-captivity in a
flat with other women who
had been ‘seduced’ by Manrique,
including being raped
and beaten, and baring Manrique’s
children, which is
what happened in Patricia’s
case.
Patricia was rescued 18
months later, after her father
flew to Lima to oversee
the operation to get her out
of Manrique’s clutches.
