has called on sons and
daughters of the ancient
community to join hands with
him to bring more progress
and development to the town.
Ilori-Faboro, who made the call
yesterday at the this year’s
edition of Ajodun Ido
Oganganmodu and his 10th
Coronation Anniversary, said
Ido-Ekiti needed unity now
more than any other period in
history if the community was
to have a pride of place in the
fast developing global
community.
The monarch noted that the
past giant strides of the of Ido-
Ekiti were made possible as a
result of oneness and unity of
purpose displayed by her
indigenes.
Earlier in an address, the
Chairman Planning
Committee of Ajodun Ido
Oganganmodu 2019, Mr
Babatunde Akilo, observed
that lack of industries in Ido was
a challenge that required
private-public collaboration
and urged Ido Progressive
Association to set up an action
committee to fashion out a
strategy to industrialise the
town.
This, he said, would not only
have a spiral effect on the local
economy, but also engage the
teeming unemployed youth
that were easily recruited into
crime to engage their
preconscious minds and
boundless energies.
The intra-city roads,
according to Akilo, were an
eyesore which made it
difficult to believe that Ido
is a local government
headquarters and pleaded
held on Thursday at his
compound in Ugamuma
village, Obosi, Udemba
speaks on his achievements.
Excerpts: “My challenges are
as enormous as expected
because of the fallout of semiurbanization
of Obosi
community which tilted
towards crime and cultism,
unemployment of our youths
and lack of educational
qualifications. When I came on
board, I and other cabinet
members assisted Eze Iweka,
our young and energetic royal
father, in fighting these vices
and bringing them down to a
minimum level.
“If you asked me how we did
it, I will tell you right away that
we, first of all, identified the root
of crimes, the criminals
themselves, their hideouts and
their modus operandi and
uprooted them. At a stage, some
of them fled the community
when we closed-in on them and
the atmosphere became
inconducive environment for
them to operate, while at the
same time, we created
employment for some youths
and that was how we achieved
the 30 percent feat that is
Emotions as old students celebrate 92-yr-old ex-principal
Association (AGSOSA),
Captain Tajudeen Alao (retd),
stated this last weekend when
he led different sets of former
students of the school on a visit
to Gbadamosi at his Surulere,
Lagos residence.
Alao said the purpose of the
visit was to spend time with the
92-year-old man who laid the
foundation of their alma mater
and made it a moulder of great
minds.
How we fought crime, cultism in Obosi —Udemba
According to him, the
accomplishments of the
“distinguished” school
administrator are legendary
and have continued to
reverberate within and outside
the school from generation to
generation.
“It is an honour on our part
because our source, the root, is
this man. He established that
school from scratch. We want
to sustain his legacy,” he added.
prevalent at the moment.
“Since I became Ndi Ichie, I
saw the performance of Eze
Iweka of Obosi as quite
challenging. Like I said earlier,
Obosi is an urban community
and, as such, all those
challenges are expected. Before
I became Ichie, the challenges
were so enormous but, as of
today, almost every ugly
situation is under control,
courtesy of Igwe’s hard work
and other cabinet members.
“I am celebrating my 5th
annual Iwaji cultural festival
today. Since I was installed as
Akamkposi Obosi in January,
2015, I have been celebrating
my Iwaji festival on yearly
basis.
We celebrate Ifejioku in March
every every which is a
celebration of appeasing our
gods to make our crops yield
fruitfully at which time Ndichie
will receive yam seedlings from
Eze Obosi to go and plant.
Each Ndichie will pray in their
respective domains for the land
to yield. In summary, Ifejioku
is celebrated after the first rain
in the year to usher in farming
season.
Also, the first Vice President of
AGSOSA, Alhaji Olanrewaju
significant because some of us
were not born and others were
very little when this man was
the Principal of our alma
mater.
“Whatever success I have
made of my life today, this
school was the basis. Seeing the
person who pioneered the
school is a fantastic feeling for
me. I am grateful to God to be
here today.”
