Others equally rescued are
Adamu Madugu, Tukur
Abdulkarim, Ibrahim
Sulaiman, and 14 males all of
whom are teenagers between
the ages of 13 - 16 years.

A statement by the Deputy
Director, Army Public
Relations, Col Aminu Ilyasu
said: “ Babban Gida, the

of Tarmuwa LGA of Yobe State
came under attack by some
marauding Boko Haram
criminals on November 27,
2019.
“The terrorists sneaked into
the peaceful community on
board nine Gun Trucks to
unleash terror on the innocent
citizens while simultaneously
attempting to overrun the
troops in the community.
“In the process, the
insurgents looted some
suspected attackers while a
letter of medical referral was
issued for the victim’s
attention in hospital.

LASTMA, official, identified
as Ola Oyeshina, has died
from the injuries he sustained
after being stoned on Friday

NACA chief warns Nigerian scientists on
AIDS cure claims

challenged Nigerian scientists
to come up with a cure for HIV
even as he said that plans are
underway to place additional
50,000 Nigerians living with

Cholera: Ogun to lock up houses without
toilet, arrest landlords

he Ogun State government has vowed to lock up houses
Twithout toilet facilities and get the landlords arrested
to face the full weight of the law.
This warning came in the wake of cholera outbreak at Abule-
Otun, Lafenwa, Kuto and Idi-Aba areas of Abeokuta, capital
and reportedly claimed five lives.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adesanya
Ayinde, said Governor Dapo Abiodun’s directive to that effect
would become operational this week.
He said the governor opined that open defecation in the
21st century has become unacceptable world over given the
danger it is capable of unleashing on human lives, such as
cholera and other infections.

91 graduat
aduate with distinction at Fed Poly Ondo

91 students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile- Oluji passed out
with distinction in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 sets.
The Rector of the institution, Prof Adedayo Fasakin, said the
combined sets produced 292 students with diploma certificates.
They include 141 for the 2017/2018 pioneering set and 151
for the 2018/2019 set.
"Overall 39 students had distinctions, 91 upper credit, 119
lower credit and 42 with pass”, Fasakin said.
According to him, within four years, the institution had
expanded to 12 programmes.
The Rector added that the polytechnic will kick-start the
process of running Higher National Diploma shortly
“The HND programmes will be run in five courses in which
the polytechnic took off at the National Diploma (ND) level in
the 2016/2017 academic session’, he said.
Buhari urged to cancel Kogi, Balyesa
governorship elections

agos based political activist, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, has
called on President Muhammmadu Buhari to, as the father
of the nation, cancel the November 16 Kogi and Balyesa
governorship elections because of violence that characterized
the polls.
While ordering fresh elections, the President should declare
a state of emergency and appoint administrators for the two
states, he suggested.
Onitiri made the call in Lagos in a press statement.
The activist said, “All democrats and patriotic Nigerians
should prevail on President Buhari to cancel the governorship
elections in Kogi and Balyesa states.
“The elections fell short of all democratic norms. It was not
fair, credible or free in view of callous murder of a political
women leader who was set ablaze in her house by suspected
political thugs.
“In fact, they were the worst elections ever conducted in
Nigeria. The polls were a free demonstration of craziness and
lunacy. It was a total war condoned by security agencies and
compromised INEC officials.
