Take Art is excited to announce a new phase
of the social prescribing project Word/Play,
taking place at The Hub in Yeovil, where
a group of 12 service users attend regular
spoken word poetry workshops, aimed at
building their confidence and giving them
the freedom and encouragement to tell their
stories.
Word/Play has been a hugely successful
project for Take Art. It started in 2012 and
over that time has worked with eight separate
groups of adults, experiencing either learning
related challenges or poor mental health.
Working with professional performance

word workshops, where they are given the
This phase of the project, which is the fourth
incarnation, will also support the spoken
word poetry night The Rainbow Fish Speak
Easy, by funding another year of the popular
bi-monthly event, which also takes place at
The Hub. The RFSE provides a much needed
platform for the Somerset poetry community
as a whole. The event is co-run by previous
Word/Play participants.
The current group will be taking over half
of the next RFSE on 23 January at the Hub
(see P4), which is headlined by Radio 4
regular Matt Harvey. The public and local
community are invited to come and watch
their performance and share in their journey.
