materials
fabric
• 28ct Lugana (Springfield Sage)
floss
• DMC embroidery floss
Notes: Depth has been added to this piece
by working the background with a single
strand of floss. Three strands (3x) of floss
were used for the foreground of this design,
based on a 14ct stitch being used. This
gives the foreground a deeper, richer look,
and covers the fabric well. However, if the
fabric being used is a smaller count (16ct
or less), then reduce the foreground to
two strands, though all backstitching can
remain the same at one strand of floss.

A note from Jo
When the model was framed, she decided the
darkest red used in the hammock was too dark,
and the lightest tan used in the hat was too
light. The red listed here is a shade lighter than
the sample, and the tan is a shade darker –
which means your design will look even better
than hers!
