KINGSTON FRONTENACS GAMEDAY REPORT
FRONTS LOOK TO STAY HOT AGAINST COLTS
KINGSTON LOOKING TO CONTINUE SUCCESS AGAINST STRUGGLING BARRIE
The Kingston Frontenacs and the Barrie Colts are
teams that have been heading in two different directions
over the last few weeks of OHL action. Kingston
has been firing on all cylinders winning 7 of their
last 10 games, including wins over the Peterborough
Petes and Oshawa Generals. The Colts have struggled
losing 7 of their last 10 and three in a row coming into
tonight.
Dawson Baker has been an important part of Kingston’s
recent success. He has scored 6 goals in his last
5 games giving him 10 on the season, which is a new
career high. Joining him on a hot streak is defenceman
Nick King. Since joining the Frontenacs, King has 10
points in 14 games. 5 of those points have come in the
last three games (2 G, 3 A).
The Colts have an interesting mix of youth and experience
on their team. Veterans like Tyler Tucker, Luke
Bignell, and Matej Pekar are still counted upon to lead
the team, but there are a number of good young players
already playing regular minutes. Nicholas Porco
was a top 5 pick in the 2017 OHL Priority selection that
the Colts acquired in October. He is joined by Brandt
Clarke who was the fourth pick in the 2019 OHL Priority
Selection. Clarke is a rookie defenceman that has 9
points so far this season.
Kingston will look to end a lengthy regular season
losing streak against the Colts. Barrie has taken the
last 6 meetings between the two clubs. The last win for
Kingston came on Feb 19, 2018. The Frontenacs did
record four straight wins over the Colts in a 2018 playoff
series that sent them to the Eastern Conference Final.
Kingston has played 36 games on Friday the 13th
since 1973. They have 17 wins and 16 losses with 3
ties in those games. KF
