NOURAN
GOHAR
NO.3
Nouran Gohar is another immensely talented youngster fresh off the Egyptian
production line of premier squash players.
Her 2019 results were the strongest of her young career and propelled her
to a best-ever world ranking of No. 2 in November, while her December
ranking of No. 3 sees her positioned in the 2020 J.P. Morgan Tournament of
Champions as the third seed. Her 2019 victories at two of the most
important events on Tour, the British Open and U.S. Open, moved her out of
the shadows of fellow Egyptians Raneem El Welily and Nour El Sherbini and
into her own spotlight.
Gohar won the World Junior Championships in 2015 and 2016, doubling
down that later year with significant breakthroughs on the PSA World Tour
including a stunning victory at the Platinum level Hong Kong Open. This
splendid breakout season was rounded off with a debut appearance at the
2016 PSA Dubai World Tour Finals and a World No. 5 ranking.
The demur athlete is assessed as having one of the best backhand strokes on
record, earning her the Tour nickname “The Terminator,” and enjoys reading,
drawing, swimming and shopping when it’s at rest.

NOUR
EL TAYEB
NO.4
Nour El Tayeb is an integral member of the Egyptian Big Three. Together
with El Welily and El Sherbini, she has made the Egyptian women’s
national team the record-breaking juggernaut that it is.
On the PSA World Tour, she has labored in the shadows of the late stage
success of that duo for several years, but all that changed at the 2017
US Open in Philadelphia, when the newly married daughter of a Cairo
professor joined husband Ali Farag on the podium to accept their amazing
twin gold medals and trophies for winning their respective divisions in one
of the Tour’s most prestigious Majors.
The outgoing and engaging Cairene enjoyed a very strong 2019 campaign
reaching the finals of the 2018/2019 World Championship in Chicago in
March, as well as the Platinum level US Open in October, while winning
the $51,000 Cleveland Open and making semis at five other top tier
events.
El Tayeb was honored with the PSA Young Player of the Year Award for
2010-2011 and is now a mainstay in the final eight of any major World
Tour event.
