Welcome from our

Chief Executive

The EBP is a Natwest 100 Social Enterprise which supports young

people to develop their long-term employability and skills. We are

proud of the fact that of the 90,000 social enterprises operating

across the UK, The EBP is consistently ranked within the top 100.

As a well-established and highly regarded Education Business

Partnership, we understand the importance of bringing the

education and business community together for the benefit of

children and young people. Young people are significantly more

likely to be actively engaged in the world of work and benefit from

higher level earnings if they have the skills and resilience to meet

the challenges of an increasingly competitive and changing

job-market. The EBP is passionate about boosting economic growth

and development through enhancing the skills of young people

and shaping meaningful employment and skills support that really

does make a difference to the lives of children and young people

and the communities in which they live, grow and prosper.

I am delighted to introduce The EBP’s new Prospectus which

includes a range of innovative programmes and services from

Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 and 16+ which are designed to

complement the national curriculum, support your setting to

meet the Ofsted Inspection Framework, Gatsby Benchmarks

and national priorities around preparing young people for

learning, living and life.

The EBP looks forward to working with you and your students.

By working together, in partnership, we can help children and

young people to thrive and succeed.

An Introduction

to The EBP

Making sure children and young people are

given the opportunity to develop important

skills that will take them through education and

into their future careers is the key focus of our

work at The EBP.

In the ever-changing landscape of education

and skills, supporting young people as they

start their journey through life is a priority

for all of us. As the curriculum and careers

landscape evolves and educational priorities

change, it is important to keep up-to-date

with developments and integrate them into

school life.

By working alongside businesses as well as

schools, we often hear about the challenges that

young people face as they begin their working

life, which is why we offer the opportunities to

develop soft and transferrable skills that they

can take with them after school. Our unique

position as a broker between the two worlds

means that we are in a position to work with

education settings and employers to make sure

that we bring the world of work into the

classroom whilst supporting schools to meet

the priorities for their children and young

people.

Working with us

We are proud to have helped tens of thousands of children and young people since The EBP

was founded in 2001. Our programmes have a profound effect on the young people that we

work with as they take the skills that they learn into their life after school.

The team at The EBP has a wealth of experience in working with children and young people. As a

broker between the worlds of education and business, we ensure that our team is uniquely skilled

in both fields. Our programmes are created and delivered by former school senior leaders,

qualified and experienced teachers and individuals with significant industry experience.

We are an Aim Accredited Centre

We are an Aim Group recognised centre which means that we can deliver regulated qualifications

at different levels and in a wide range of subject areas. We have developed a number of accredited

programmes which go through our quality assurance processes involving internal verification,

standardisation and external verification, all of which are checked and verified by Aim Group at

quality monitoring visits.

Due to the flexible nature of our delivery and the wide variety of accredited units available, we can

also offer bespoke programmes tailored to individual learner needs and for flexible durations.

All of our programmes hold the Investing in Your Future Kitemark

We have been awarded the ‘Investing in Your Future’ (IF) excellence kitemark which recognises that

The EBP is focussed on excellence and has a proven record of high standards for all of the

non-accredited programmes that we deliver. As we are an IF recognised centre, you will benefit

from the assurance that our internal excellence in course design, delivery and quality assurance

processes have been checked by an ofqual regulated organisation and have met the Aim Group’s

criteria of excellence.

For a small fee, each learner who completes one of our non-accredited programmes will receive a

certificate of achievement with their name, course title and the ‘Investing in Your Future’ kitemark

logo. Copies of all certificates will be sent directly to the school for distribution. Please ensure that

when booking any of our non-accredited programmes that you state whether you wish your learners

to receive a certificate.

Case Study

In 2019, The EBP worked with The Priory

Witham Academy in Lincoln to deliver a range

of our programmes to KS1 through to their 6th

Form. Taking part in a variety of programmes

throughout the day, the children and young

people were able to experience activities from

each of our portfolios. By bringing businesses

with expertise in different industries, we were

able to provide hands-on activities and insights

into how young people could enter that field

alongside the requirements to get there.

“The work that The EBP does

allows the children to be exposed

to those businesses and then to

have those conversations that

will develop them. They’ve been

able to come in, understand what

the businesses do, understand the

provisions, ask questions and find

out about the sort of things they

can do when they leave school.”

DURATION:

GROUP

SIZE: 40

About the programme

This series of eight workshops is designed to

build confidence and self-esteem by giving young

people the knowledge and essential life-skills to

practice and succeed in everyday life. Our two-day

programme contains helpful tools, tips and

resources that are designed in collaboration with

several employers from key industry sectors.

With a great CV, you are 38% more likely to be

contacted by recruiters, 31% more likely to secure

an interview and 40% more likely to land a job.

Our resources reflect the current and future

employment and skills landscape. The programme

not only aims to help recognise the skills that

young people have now but how these can be

improved and adapted so that they stand out

from the competition and raise employability levels.

Our Level 18 programme also contains valuable

information about financial management so that

young people feel supported to make informed

choices about their money and become more in

control of their finances as they enter adult life.

Background

Research has revealed that the traditional interview

is an unreliable indicator of whether a person is

right for the job, with many employers preferring

assessment exercises and psychometric tests.

We cover all the latest methods to help young

people feel confident to tackle any interview

format. Financial education is an essential part of

a young person’s future. Rising debt, cost of living

and mortgages are just some of the challenges

facing young adults when it comes to looking after

their money, therefore the focus should be on

providing a structured environment to talk about

key financial products to plan for the future.

Focus areas

Day 1 Building a strong CV.

• Local labour market information.

• Recruitment processes.

• Interview preparation.

Day 2 Financial capabilities.

• Tax/National Insurance/paying bills.

• Financial products.

• Student finance options.

Programme aims

Day 1 To understand the aims of producing

a tailored, professional CV.

• To explore local labour market information.

• To understand the recruitment process.

• To demonstrate and practice interview skills.

Day 2 To understand the importance of sound

personal financial management.

• To explore financial deductions.

• To gain a greater understanding of

Resilience

Portfolio

Welcome to our Resilience Portfolio.

Our Resilience Portfolio is dedicated to giving young people aged 13-25 skills in

managing the pressures of school and preparing for life. These programmes are

firmly centred around overall resilience and wellbeing with a strong focus on

understanding the self. All of our Resilience programmes hold the ‘Investing in

Your Future’ kitemark.

All of our programmes meet the needs of the Ofsted Framework and specifically

extend the curriculum beyond the academic, technical and vocational by

focussing on the young person’s broader personal development needs.

For young people with more complex needs, our Resilience programmes form

part of the school’s graduated response by supporting young people to develop

resilience and character and by better preparing young people to make a successful

transition to adult life.

When combined with a broad and well-balanced curriculum, our resilience

programmes can significantly reduce exclusions and stop children and young

people from falling into crisis.

About the programme

A three-day accredited residential programme

designed for 13-19-year olds that will equip them

with the skills they need to be more resilient and

better prepared for work. As the modern world

becomes more complex, with even more

expectations on young people, there is a need to

develop the skills that they need to handle the

between two worlds, creating a safe space for

young people to learn resilience skills and to be

empowered to help them navigate the world in

which they live. The days are separately themed

and include indoor and outdoor activities that

form a complete wellbeing journey that allows

young people to reflect on learning and increase

their inner confidence. In addition to some

of the mandatory units you will also have the

flexibility to select additional suitable topics so

you can tailor the programme for the group.

Background

Through the EBP’s ongoing work with young

people, we have observed a year-on-year increase

of young people struggling with a variety of

complex social, emotional and mental health

issues such as anxiety, depression and self-harm.

Research has shown that half of mental health

conditions are established before the age of 14

and early intervention can prevent problems

escalating and have major societal benefits.

Analysis of this research has provided a solid

justification of the need for Camp Resilience, so

that behaviours, thoughts and actions can be

learnt and developed by everyone collectively.

About the programme

This programme is designed to help young

people recognise and reflect on how anger can

affect the individual and others around them.

Background

Improving the awareness of emotions and how to

deal with them can lead to many benefits. Positive

mental health/emotional wellbeing is impacted

by a multiplicity of factors which can contribute

to either increased vulnerability or the

development of resilience - that is, the capacity

to cope with adversity. Many factors are associated

with emotional wellbeing; these include

self-esteem, optimism, a sense of control and

the ability to initiate, develop and sustain

mutually satisfying personal relationships. A

mentally healthy young person is able to play

and explore, face and learn from problems, cope

with changes and differences, feel safe, make

positive choices and learn new skills and

information – essential for a successful, enjoyable

education and preparation for life’s next steps.

The programme seeks to understand a young

person’s feelings and emotions and identify

potential trigger points that can cause sudden

surges in emotional change.

A number of techniques and strategies are

taught to help manage anger effectively. This

is a programme that not only contributes

towards lowering the frequency and intensity

of a young person’s anger but helps equip

them with the essential skills to navigate

all aspects of work and adult life.

Focus areas

• Understanding anger, emotions and

feelings.

• Developing coping mechanisms and

strategies for managing emotions.

• Actively engage in support techniques.

• Empowerment and reducing trigger points.

Programme aims

• To recognise the triggers that can

contribute to making someone feel angry.

• To develop strategies and learn skills to

help manage triggers for anger effectively.

• To engage in relaxation techniques and

mindfulness when coping with anger.

• To learn problem solving techniques to

increase empowerment and reduce the

risk of triggering anger and frustration.

Resilience Portfolio

Background

Today’s young people will face a labour market

which requires them to demonstrate effective

social and emotional competencies and

capabilities. They are growing up in a world

where they feel under enormous pressure to

cope with everyday pressures and challenges.

As a result, this is impacting on their mental

health and wellbeing – affecting one in every

three young people in the classroom.

GROUP

SIZE: 40

About the programme

This purposeful preparation for work and life

toolkit includes six workshops designed with the

young person in mind and the complex

challenges and hurdles that they are faced with

growing up in today’s society. Each workshop

creates a sense of empowerment giving young

people the tools to be self-assured in discussing

the experiences critical to their continued

development and resilience. A key focus will

be to break down barriers in communication to

discuss topics that are often difficult due to lack

of confidence or contemporary knowledge.

You will have the option to select all six workshops

over one day or you can select any three workshops

which you feel are important for your own

learners and their environment in a half-day

session. This programme is also suitable for

teacher CPD to provide them with the knowledge

and understanding of what goes on in a young

person’s life, to support them in their role as a

teacher and promoting a safe world for young

people to grow up in.

Persistence, self-motivation and confidence are

all essential traits which support young people

to navigate an increasingly complex world. This

workshop provides a safe and supportive

environment in which young people are supported

to explore the problems which they may face and

learn how they can overcome them.

Focus areas

• Digital society

• Gang culture

• Knife crime

• County lines

• Social pressures

• LGBTQ+

• Relationships and Sex Education

Programme aims

• Provide knowledge and understanding

of the key social challenges.

• Promote discussion and openness around

the focus areas so that young people feel

supported and confident.

• Provide techniques and tools to overcome

the challenges they may face.

• Know how, when and who to report

information to which may have harmful

effects.

About the programme

Supported by industry experts, this newly

launched programme is a one-day course where

students design, build and test a fully functioning

game machine. The complexity of the task will

differ depending on key stage and the individual

needs of each group.

KS2 will be provided with pre-cut templates

with instructions as to how to build their game.

KS3 and KS4 will be provided with materials

and simple instructions but the overall design,

build and mechanism will be their own creative

work. The theme of the gaming machine will be

dictated by the school’s curriculum links and will

align with Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)

priorities.

Dependent on demand for this programme, an

inter-school competition would allow for

further STEM activity.

Background

With the gaming market now worth £5.7bn,

the industry is a cornerstone of the country’s

cultural landscape. It is developing at a fast

pace to create new, innovative and exciting

content that consumers want to experience.

Designed with tourism and the visitor

economy as one of the Local Enterprise

Partnership priority areas identified in

the region, we want to develop the technological

skills needed for a career in the gaming industry

so that young people can experience what it is

like to design, build and test a gaming machine

in a tourism/visitor economy simulated

environment.

Focus areas

• Creativity with different types of

resource.

• Designing and developing a detailed

concept into a finished product.

• Gaming careers and STEM.

Programme aims

• To develop knowledge and

understanding of how to use and re-use

commonly available items to create new

and different things.

• To engage in the design, build and testing

of a game in order to develop skills in

Design and Technology.

• To raise awareness of tourism and the

visitor economy being identified as a

And that’s not all

In addition to our Careers, Resilience and STREAM programmes, we also offer a comprehensive

range of annual events and challenges for children and young people. You can read more about the

other services that we offer to bring the worlds of education and business together below.

Construction Week

Each year The EBP is proud to be a part of Construction Week, a three-day event taking place

to raise awareness and interest in the diverse careers across the construction industry. In the

East Midlands, construction takes up around 7% of employment and activities throughout

the week give students a taster into the varied careers in the industry.

SPARK! Engineering Festival

Every two years, the highly-anticipated SPARK! Engineering Festival takes place in Lincoln to

celebrate all things STEM across Lincolnshire. As Education Partner, The EBP invite hundreds of

young people to give them interactions with employers across the county who are leading and

changing the path through STEM subjects.

Sir Isaac Newton Lecture

Organised by a committee of Lincolnshire businesses and individuals, the annual Sir Isaac

Newton Lecture is an opportunity for young people across Lincolnshire to hear from significant

figures working in STEM.

Project X

Working closely with RAF Waddington, each year teams of young people from schools across

the county come together for their Project X Schools Challenge. Planning and preparing a

model to carry cargo, the teams work with experienced RAF mentors before finally coming

together to compete with fellow schools.

National Citizen Service (NCS)

The EBP has been a partner in the delivery of the National Citizen Service since 2011. NCS is a

programme for young people aged 15-17. Taking place during the summer and autumn half-term,

the programme is an opportunity for young people to play an active part in their communities.

The Lincoln Imp Trail

Following the success of the Lincoln Knights’ Trail in 2017, 2020 will see the launch of the

Lincoln Imp Trail. Due to the Imp’s significant presence across the city of Lincoln, it is only

fitting that this is the next installment in the trail series. As the Education Partner, we’ll be

bringing schools from across Lincolnshire to the heart of the trail.
