KINGSTON FRONTENACS GAMEDAY REPORT

FRONTS PREPARE FOR HIGH OCTANE OFFENCE

SPIRIT BRING HIGHEST SCORING OFFENCE IN THE WEST TO LEON’S CENTRE

The Kingston Frontenacs did a great job of shutting

down a highly skilled forward in Arthur Kaliyev on

Monday night when they defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Tonight, they face a similar situation but will have

to repeat the task against multiple members of the opposition.

The Saginaw Spirit are the highest scoring team in

the OHL’s Western Conference. Entering their game on

Thursday night in Peterborough they had scored 187

goals trailing only the Ottawa 67’s for highest scoring

team in the OHL. The trade deadline addition of Ryan

Suzuki, who had 11 points in just 5 games with his

new team, bolstered an already impressive group.

Damien Giroux, who is in his fourth season with the

Spirit, has already reached 48 points and 27 goals.

Both of those numbers are just three short of his career

high in those categories. Cole Coskey sits one spot

ahead of him on team scoring. The overage player has

57 points in his 44 games this season. The biggest

threat for the Spirit is NHL draft eligible Cole Perfetti.

The potential top 5 pick in the upcoming NHL draft

has 75 points and 51 assists. He is second in OHL

scoring sitting just 3 points behind Marco Rossi for the

league lead.

For the Frontenacs to earn points in this game,

the defensive core will have to be at it’s best. Captain

Jakob Brahaney, and assistant Nick King will see big

minutes against the top line, but assistant Jake Murray

and Lucas Peric will also play a key role. Braden

Haché had his best game as a Frontenac on Monday

night and may also see some important minutes as he

earns his coaches trust.

Regardless of who is called upon to take on the

challenge, one thing is for sure, The Frontenacs need

their best defensive effort to earn a win against the

high scoring team from Saginaw. KF
