Fun Fact: On old maps Fletschhorn had always been listed as 4,001 metres high. However, in the
early 1990’s surveyors determined that Fletschbhorn was only 3,993 metres high. The Saas Valley
was devastated. The municipal administration tried everything to keep all of its 4,000er peaks and
planned to build a restaurant on the peak to artificially elevate it. The project never went through
but it made the Saas Valley famous. To this day, we hang on to Fletschhorn as one of our 4,000er
peak family members.
Tourism
Saas-Fee offers around 9,000 beds to visitors. It has approximately 70 hotels and over 1'100
apartments. Our main season is in winter, from December throughout February. In summer, July
and August are the busiest months.
