2 0 EDITION
YEARS
CELEBRATING
WELCOME TO THE
20TH ANNIVERSARY
Cover photo: Urzsula Tarasiewicz
Welcome to the 20th anniversary
edition of the NCEM’s spring
season of concerts, boasting an
international star line-up of artists
including trumpeter Byron Wallen,
drummer Jeff Williams and
guitarist Antonio Forcione.
20 years ago, St Margaret’s Church
had only just opened as the National
Centre for Early Music. It’s been
quite a journey! The NCEM is now
established as an essential music
venue in the City, providing a yearround
series of festivals, concerts
and creative opportunities for people
of all ages, and is acknowledged as
a much-loved venue for weddings,
parties, conferences and recordings.
This spring we are undertaking an
essential refurbishment programme,
in part to upgrade some of the
facilities which are showing the
strain of so much usage, and I am
delighted to acknowledge financial
support from Arts Council England;
the Garfield Weston Foundation;
the Foyle Foundation and the Noel
Terry Charitable Trust. Our sincerest
thanks go to them, and to those of
you who have helped support our
Seat Appeal. Just another £5,000
to find now so that we can all enjoy
some extra padding! Please do help
us if you can!
Whether you want to listen, take
part, or get involved as a volunteer,
there is much to enjoy at the
NCEM this spring. We look forward
to seeing you very soon.
Delma Tomlin MBE
Director
This season we are delighted to welcome
Jeff Williams and Richard Durrant to the
stage to talk about their musical inspirations
with NCEM Director, Delma Tomlin.
