Over 16 days, individuals and teams from around the world will compete in the largest sporting event Tokyo has ever seen. These Games will mark the return of the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo for the first time since 1964. It will be the fourth Olympic Games overall to be held in Japan, also following the 1972 Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo and the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano. Tokyo is the first city in Asia to host the Olympic Games twice.
