San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Run
On Thursday, February 6 th at 08:30 am we will leave from the McDonalds at Herndon and 99
and head to the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge visitor center 15 minutes outside of town in
Los Banos. The road is paved all the way to the Refuge with plenty of parking.
Upon arriving at the visitor center, we will attend a presentation by the Park Ranger. There will
also be time to take in the visitor center exhibits. The Park Ranger will have a van to take us
on the 5 mile Tule Elk wildlife loop. We should be able to see some of the 50 Elk on the
Refuge. The van can hold about 8 to 10 people. The park ranger may also drive some in a
separate car. We can also drive our cars on the wildlife loop if we wish, but I don't recommend
driving our Corvettes on the wildlife loop. The wildlife loop is compressed aggregate, but can
be muddy in places after rain. There is no charge for the Wildlife Refuge activities.
Then we will head back to Los Banos for lunch at Espanas. Hope you can join us!
