KINGSTON FRONTENACS GAMEDAY REPORT

FRONTENACS HOST SPUTTERING SPITFIRES

WINDSOR MAKES ANNUAL KINGSTON VISIT IN MIDST OF STANDINGS SLIDE

At one point in January the Windsor Spitfires

were tied for the West Division lead with

60 points. Heading into Thursday night action

in Peterborough, they had fallen to third in the

division with 63 points and trailed the Saginaw

Spirit by 8 points for the division lead. The cause

of the fall was 5 losses in their previous 6 games.

They gave up an average of 5.83 goals against

over that stretch.

Needless to say, this is a great time for the

Frontenacs to see the Spitfires on the schedule.

On top of Windsor’s struggles, Kingston

has been playing solid hockey as of late. The

Frontenacs week started on Wednesday night in

Oshawa. Entering that game Kingston had won

3 of their previous 4 games and their offence

had averaged 4.5 goals per game over that

stretch. The defensive game has also improved.

Their 3.5 goals against per game over those four

games was nearly a goal/game better than their

4.45 average over the course of the season.

Recent history would appear to give Kingston

a slight advantage in tonight’s game, but when

Windsor visits Leon’s Centre they always come to

play. The Spitfires have taken the last two meetings

in Kingston. Since the two teams only meet

once per season at Leon’s Centre, that means

the Frontenacs have not beaten the Spitfires on

home ice since November 27, 2016. They did

earn a 4-3 OT win in Windsor last season. Kingston

is 57-46-13 in 116 all-time meetings against

Windsor. KF
