Lake Forest police seek SUV theft, burglary suspects
Staff Report
The Lake Forest Police
Department is looking for
any information regarding
multiple vehicle break-ins
that occurred overnight on
Feb. 8.
A resident in the area
of Buena Road and Valley
Road called 911 at 3:30
a.m. after seeing three unidentified
black males, one
wearing a ski mask and the
others wearing hoodies,
walking up his driveway
and trying to get into the
vehicles in the driveway.
An officer spotted a
white SUV and a black
sedan leaving the Ponds
subdivision westbound on
Westleigh Road at a high
rate of speed. The vehicles
then continued southbound
on U.S. Route 41.
As police checked
the neighborhood, they
learned that a 2018 Mercedes
was stolen from a
residence on Valley Road.
They also found multiple
cars unlocked and
signs that they had been
ransacked while the suspects
were looking for
valuables.
Police are continuing to
investigate and have identified,
through surveillance
videos, the white SUV at
multiple houses as well
as 3-4 suspects attempting
to gain entry into vehicles
and garages by using the
garage door openers.
• Adaje L. Lee, 20, of
Evanston, has been
charged with driving with
a suspended license and
speeding. An officer pulled
Lee over after observing
her speeding 81 miles per
hour in a 55 mile per hour
zone. The officer determined
that Lee didn’t have
a valid driver’s license and
was suspended for past citations.
After being arrested,
she was processed, released
on bond and given a
March court date.
Feb. 3
• Dianira G. Rodrigues,
33, of 600 W. Washington
Road in Lake Bluff, was
charged with using an electronic
device while driving,
not having insurance
and driving with a suspended
license. Rodrigues
was pulled over after an
officer saw her texting
while driving. The officer
subsequently learned that
Rodrigues’s driver’s license
was suspended and
she didn’t have insurance.
Rodrigues was arrested,
processed and released
on bond. She was given a
March court date.
Feb. 8
• Courtney L. Ruiz, 26, of
Waukegan, was charged
with driving on a revoked
license. Police pulled over
Ruiz’s vehicle for expired
registration, and when the
officer approached the car
and spoke to her, they determined
that Ruiz’s driver’s
license was revoked
at the time of the stop. She
was arrested, released on
bond and given a March
court date.
Feb. 10
• Auburny R. Lizana, 29,
of Waukegan, was charged
with driving under the influence
of drugs, driving
with a suspended license,
operating an uninsured motor
vehicle and unlawful
possession of cannabis. Police
pulled her vehicle over
on Route 41 after determining
the registration on a vehicle
was suspended. When
the officer approached the
car and spoke to the driver,
Lizana, the officer could
smell the odor of burnt
cannabis coming from the
vehicle. When questioned,
Lizana admitted to smoking
cannabis because she
thought it was legal to do
so. Officers determined Lizana
was driving on a suspended
license and she did
not have insurance on her
vehicle. Upon completing
field sobriety tests, Lizana
was arrested. She was processed,
released on bond
and given a March court
Lake Bluff Village Board
Advisory review period for
Stonebridge extended for 30 days
Stephanie Carlson
Freelance Reporter
Once again, the Lake
Bluff Village Board found
itself discussing the issue
of the Stonebridge Planned
Development at its regular
meeting on Monday, Feb.
10.
Currently, the permit for
the demolition of the manor
house is in an advisory
review period of 120 days.
During this period, the
Historical Preservation
Committee and the board
will discuss whether they
will be granting the permit.
Addressing a resolution
to extend the advisory
review an additional
30 days, the board was
approached by a couple
living in Lake Bluff near
Stonebridge Development.
Dennis Brebner and his
wife brought up their concerns
to the board, some of
them including the upkeep
of the manor house and the
board’s continued work
with the group.
“This has been going
on for a long time, and
now, you’re working with
them again. Why?” Brebner
asked. “You have this
agreement, this understanding
from them, they
promised to do this, and
they haven’t. Why keep
working with them?”
Village officials defended
working with the Roanoake
Group, stating that it would
be more beneficial to the
Village. If they were to take
away the current planned
residential development,
the agreement would go
back to its original state
zoning. This would remove
the agreement for the upkeep
of the manor house.
