Students willapply what they learn through reflections on observationsand through hands-on work site laboratory work wherethey assist elementary teachers in a variety of instructionalsupport, including tutoring students in reading, writing andmath topics. This course meets the UC “g” requirement.CCR, INT, UC/CSUSTEM TEACHING – SCIENCE2 SemestersThis course is designed to prepare students for careers inteaching with an emphasis on science. Instruction willinclude classroom management and instructional strategies formultiple types of learners. Students will create standardsbasedlesson plans and deliver those lessons at elementaryschool sites under the supervision of a certificated teacher.This course is part of the Project Tomorrow Youth Teach2LearnProgram focusing on developing effective future science andmath educators.CHILD DEVELOPMENT (UC)2 SemestersStudents study the history, philosophy and major theoriesof child growth and development. Instruction includesthe biological, hereditary and environmental influenceson development together with methods of supporting andpromoting optimum healthy growth. This course meets theUC “g” requirement.PRQ, CCR, UC/CSUPROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIPEDUCATION2 SemestersThis practicum and internship course allows thestudents to apply academic and career readiness skillsin a workplace environment. Instruction will combinestandards-based classroom instruction with extended onsiteindustry experience. Students will learn all aspectsof Professionalism, and apply 21st Century Skills ofCommunication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativityand Problem Solving in a real world setting.
