Michelle Lisa Polissaint: ruining love songs

ruining love songs showcases works from Michelle Lisa Polissaint's series _The Ballad of Me & You_, her ongoing visual conversation about her failures and successes in romantic relationships. Through large-scale banners, Polissaint searches for meaning and joy in the reality of broken relationships and existing on her own. The banners are hand embroidered textile pieces sourced from her own narrative. They reveal a poetic intimacy through the layering of images with silhouettes and words. The exhibition explores how failed relationships are beautiful, complicated, and an important part of learning in the process of finding successful partnerships. For the artist, this more personal approach in her work has become a way for her to explore a more honest side of herself.
