This year’s recipient, voted on byhis peers of past winners, is Cardiothoracic SurgeonDr. Chris Christy. Dr. Christy served on the NorthEastFoundation Founding Board of Directors 25 years agoand is a beloved physician at Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute. Due to the cancelation of the NorthEastFoundation Gala, Dr. Christy will be honored at a signature event in the fall.Congratulations and so deserved! The program, set to launch in March,was a need identified by caring, committed anddedicated nurses advocating for veteran patients.Like the Checkered Flag Foundation, Atrium HealthCabarrus wants to honor and assist those whohave sacrificed greatly for our country throughthe establishment of the Veterans RecognitionProgram.The Atrium Health Cabarrus Veterans RecognitionProgram will ensure every identified veteranpatient experiences a special welcome uponhospital admission as well as recognition andappreciation for their sacrificial service during theirhospital stay.
