right into the current trend of environmentalissues. And rightly so. Whatever typeof photography you are into, take yourphotography outside, show that connectionwith the greater outdoors. But be mindful for the impact you createwhen out looking for that perfect sunset.Goodbye DSLRWe have entered a new era of photography.Like it or not, camera manufactures are nowlooking into new types of devices, suchas mirrorless camera. These cameras aresmaller, quieter, weigh less and still retaingreat resolution. So why carry a large camera with extraweight? As more of us photographers travelfrom place to place, (I know what I saidabove about the environment, but thosemountains won’t come to me living on theedge of the fens) a lightweight camera willbe very handy. The future is not Cannon or Nikon shaped, many other camera manufacturers offergreat and cheaper versions. Although Iwould never give up my big old Canon.MinimalismEach and every year I look at my imagesand evaluate them through a very criticalmagnifying glass. Complexity has alwaysbeen a key in my photography, and I’m notthe only photographer to use techniqueson top of composition and extra colourmanagement. If you want your images to stand out in 2020,my top tip is to take a step back. Look forsomething that makes your image different, take a more minimalist approach. It’s hard. Iknow, I’m still trying.Less noise in your composition will meanmore focus on the images subject. Thisgoes for portrait photography, fashion, street, landscape photography etc. The moreminimal you can make your image the better. So, when approaching a scene, look atwhat can be removed, not added. Aim for asimpler scene or background. So, these are my photographic trends for2020. I’d take them with a very large bucketof salt, or not, we will have to see what thisyear brings us. I for one will be out and abouttrying dome of these trends to see what willbe. Hope to see you out and about as well.Whatever the trend is, find out more aboutit by coming along to the Bottisham andBurwell Photographic Club.
