When Eternity Nears” – a concerto for steelpan<br />
and orchestra with Liam Teague, steelpan soloist at<br />

Arts Chorale) presented a national parang workshop<br />
for schools at Daaga Auditorium.<br />

Sinfonia Orchestra presented Ceremony <strong>of</strong> Carols<br />
with guest harpist Mirielle Delon from Martinique,<br />
Performances at Daaga Auditorium and at <strong>St</strong>. Paul’s<br />
Anglican Church, San Fernando.<br />

School <strong>of</strong> Education celebrated <strong>the</strong> 50th anniversary<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> establishment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Augustine</strong> campus<br />
with a series <strong>of</strong> activities in. <strong>The</strong> <strong>the</strong>me for <strong>the</strong><br />
programme <strong>of</strong> events was “A hint <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> past, a taste<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> present, a glimpse <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> future.”<br />

Film Festivals and Screenings<br />
Seven students showed films at <strong>the</strong> 20<strong>10</strong> Trinidad<br />
and Tobago Film Festival (TTFF) at MovieTowne<br />
Port <strong>of</strong> Spain. <strong>The</strong> Blood and <strong>the</strong> Bois (dir. Sigmond<br />
Cromwell) received <strong>the</strong> People’s Choice Award while<br />
Quiet Desperation (dir. Renee Pollonais) won <strong>the</strong> Best<br />
Actor and Best Actress Awards at <strong>the</strong> TTFF. <strong>The</strong> films<br />
Caribbean Skin, African Identity (dir. Mandisa Pantin)<br />
and Quiet Desperation were selected for <strong>the</strong> 20<strong>11</strong> edition<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Zanzibar International Film Festival in Tanzania.<br />
<strong>The</strong> UWI held a two-day Mini Film Festival in September/<br />
October 20<strong>10</strong>, screening a number <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> films from <strong>the</strong><br />
TTFF. <strong>The</strong> day screenings were held at <strong>the</strong> Institute <strong>of</strong><br />
Critical Thinking and open air Cinema Under <strong>the</strong> <strong>St</strong>ars<br />
screenings were held at <strong>the</strong> <strong>St</strong>udent Activities Centre.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Film Programme, in association with <strong>the</strong> High<br />
Commission <strong>of</strong> India and <strong>the</strong> Mahatma Ghandi Institute<br />
for Cultural Cooperation, hosted an Indian Film Festival<br />
in February 20<strong>11</strong>.<br />
