13.1 Minimum thermal insulation according to GEG and surface heating standard DIN EN 1264
Residential building with
indoor temperature ≥ 19°C
New buildings
Consideration of building components:
Ceilings downwards to the ground (floor slab)
and to unheated rooms or to outside air
Existing buildings
Evidence according
to GEG available?
comply with insulation
Possible insulation height
≥ 70 mm
No
Is also considered to be
fulfilled if the highest
possible insulation thickness
according to insulation
thickness is installed
(see example)
Value from verification
Ceiling downwards to similarly heated
rooms (≥ 19°C / ≥ 19 °C)
Minimum value DIN EN 1264:
R = 0,75 (m²·K)/W
Ceiling
2
(floor plate) to
ground adjacent
(≥ 19°C / ≥ 0°C)
Ceiling on
3
unheated room
(cellar) adjacent
(≥ 19°C / 6°C)
4 Ceiling to
outside air
adjacent
(≥ 19°C /
-5°C bis -15°C)
Example calculation highest possible insulation:
max. possible insulation thickness: 60 mm
R = 0,06 m/0,035 W/(m·K)
R = 1,71 (m²·K)/W
The installed insulation must have a minimum
thermal resistance of R = 1,71 (m²·K)/W
The reference value for the thermal conductivity λ
applies here 0,035 W/(m·K)
The "Act on Energy Saving and the Use of Renewable Energies for Heating and Cooling in Buildings (Building Energy Act –
GEG)" came into force on November 1, 2020. It combines the EnEG (Energy Saving Act), the EEWärmeG (Renewable Energies
Heat Act) and the EnEV (Energy Saving Ordinance) into one law. The purpose of the act (§ 1) is the most economical
use of energy in buildings possible, including an increasing use of renewable energies ..., taking into account economic efficiency
(§ 5) ..., if the requirements can be met according to the state of the art (§ 7)! The client or owner is responsible
for compliance with the regulations (§ 8), ... and/or also persons acting on his behalf in the construction or alteration of
buildings or the systems engineering in buildings.
NOTE
If a subsidy is applied for, e.g. "Federal subsidy for efficient buildings (BEG)",
other values or specifications must be taken into account!
