vital that students take the opportunity to act by
seeing Mrs Horne when they receive such a slip.
Failure to do so may result in them being recorded
as being truant, even if they weren’t.
If they were truant, they are required to do a
detention, pick up papers in the playground and
take the signed slip back to Mrs Horne. If they have
been truant more than twice they will receive a
formal warning of suspension. Being truant more
than three times will result in suspension for
persistent disobedience.
Reports
Reports for all students will be distributed during
period 5 on Thursday June 28 to students who are
in attendance for the day. It is NOT acceptable for
students to arrive at school late in the day and
expect to have their reports issued to them with
the other students. Under these circumstances,
reports will not be issued to students who arrive
late without a valid reason. If there is a valid reason
for the lateness, then the student should come
through the front office with evidence to support
their reason for being late.
Bikes, scooters and skateboards
For some time now I have been educating students
that they are not to ride bikes, scooters and
skateboards on the school premises. There are
many reasons for this, but mostly it is about safety
for everyone.
From now on, any student who is caught riding
their scooter, skateboard or bike on the premises
will be banned from bringing them to school.
Travel to and from school
I have advised many students now that they still
need to follow the expectations of the school when
they are travelling to and from school. They are
under school jurisdiction from when they leave
home in the morning until they return home in the
afternoon and, because they are in school uniform,
clearly represent the school to the community
during these times. We want the community to see
that we are proud of our school and that it is a good
school.
EVERY student here will depend on the reputation
of this school at some stage before they finish their
education so EVERY student has a responsibility to

this vital aspect of our school with you child.

The cost to repair a DER laptop is $249.00.
If your DER laptop is damaged and the damage is
deemed to be the result of the student’s
carelessness, inattention or disregard for the
laptop, then the cost of repair is the responsibility
of the student’s family. One way you can ensure
that this doesn’t affect you is to keep your laptop in
an approved laptop case. All students were issued
with a case when their laptop was allocated,
however they seem to have disintegrated over the
years. The College now has a limited number of
sturdy laptop cases of a much better quality than
the hard clear plastic originals. The new cases have
a hard but flexible exterior, coloured black, an
interior of soft padding and it zips up (see below).
The cost of the case is $20.00.
If you would like to purchase a new case please pay
at the Administration Office and bring the receipt to
Carol Holm, Technology Support Officer and I will
give you one. Thank you.
