1 Materials description and composition
RESOPLAN ® belongs to the group of compact laminates for outside application according to DIN
EN 438 part 6 (classification and specification for exterior-grade compact laminates with a
thickness of 2 mm and greater), i.e. under influence of sunlight, rain and frost.
A suitable bilateral outer layer (coating) is added to the decorative surface to warrant weather
and light protection.
RESOPLAN ® -panels with a thickness of 3 mm are usually sanded on the backside and therefore
intended for gluing to a substrate. In larger material thicknesses, i.e. above 5 mm, they are
dimensionally very stable and therefore self-supporting. With its high elasticity factor, this material
also has the advantage of high bending strength.
RESOPLAN ® is available in the materials classes B2 and B1 according to DIN 4102-1 and in Euro
classes B and D according to EN 13501-1.
2 Storage and transport
Storage and transport should be according to our recommendations. Foreign bodies and
scratching contaminations in the panel stack can cause impressions and damage to the panel
surface. The panels must not be offset against or pulled over each other during loading and
unloading; they must be lifted individually manually or with suction lifters. When covering
panel stacks with film, observe that no condensation forms.
RESOPLAN ® panels are no hazardous materials in the sense of the transport provisions, so that
marking is not required.
3 Handling and processing of RESOPLAN ®
The usual safety provisions regarding de-dusting and fire-protection must be complied with for
processing and finishing RESOPLAN ® .
Due to possible sharp edges, always wear protective gloves when handling RESOPLAN ® . Contact
to RESOPLAN ® dust does not cause any special problems; however, there are a limited number of
people who may have an allergic reaction to processing dusts of all kinds.
RESOPLAN ® is delivered as a format panel with trimmed edges. Because RESOPLAN ® can be easily
processed with wood processing machines, mating elements and drilling can be produced both
under workshop conditions and on the construction site. For more information on processing,
see the processing notes "materials-specific processing of RESOPLAN ® “.
4 Environmental and health aspects for use
With their protective outer layer, the RESOPLAN ® panels are not limited in application as compared
to the indications in the Product Data Sheet for RESOPAL ® laminate HPL.
5 Maintenance, care and cleaning
RESOPLAN ® panels do not need any special care. Slightly contaminated sheets are cleaned with
water; stronger contamination can be removed with a mild soap solution or detergent. No
cleaning agents with scouring components, paint thinners or cleansing spirit shall be used.
Graffiti shall only be removed with proven special cleaners. An appropriate one is, for example,
the “MBE Anti Graffiti Spray” cleaner of MBE GmbH, Menden.
For more information on cleaning and care of RESOPLAN ® , see the Data Sheet “Cleaning and
care of RESOPLAN ® “.
6 RESOPLAN ® in case of fire
The RESOPLAN ® panels are not limited as compared to the indications in the Product Data Sheet
for the RESOPAL ® laminate. Furthermore, RESOPLAN ® F is approved by construction authorities
and the following positive fire characteristics are to be named:
no melting, no dripping in case of fire
no splintering, no sudden cracks in case of fire
no after-burning or afterglow after removal of direct flame exposure
low development of smoke gas
7 Energy recovery
Due to the high calorific value (18 - 20 MJ/kg) *) RESOPLAN ® HPL panels are particularly well
suitable for heating use. When burnt completely at 700 °C, HPL produce water, carbon dioxide
and oxides of nitrogen. RESOPLAN ® panels therefore not only offer the prerequisite for energygeneration
use according to § 6 of the law on waste management (Kreislaufwirtschaftsgesetz).
The conditions for good combustion processes are warranted in state of the art, authorityapproved
industrial combustion plants. The ash from these combustion processes can be put in
controlled landfills.
8 Waste disposal
RESOPLAN ® can be put on controlled landfills according to the current national and / or regional
regulations.
* For comparison: calorific value of crude oil = 37 - 41 MJ/kg or of black coal = 28 - 31 MJ/kg.
