Literature Festival<br />
A fantastic l<strong>in</strong>e-up of fiction authors and academic writers are head<strong>in</strong>g for this<br />
year’s <strong>Lichfield</strong> Literature Festival to enterta<strong>in</strong> and <strong>in</strong>form book-lovers across<br />
the City through engag<strong>in</strong>g and excit<strong>in</strong>g activities and events. Between 26th-<br />
29th <strong>March</strong>, celebrate the written word, meet debut and best-sell<strong>in</strong>g authors<br />
alike and hear them talk about the books they write - all right here <strong>in</strong> <strong>Lichfield</strong>!<br />

Amanda Owen - the Yorkshire Shepherdess - is<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the Festival <strong>in</strong> her sell out national tour and<br />
will be shar<strong>in</strong>g her experiences of farm<strong>in</strong>g from her<br />
latest book <strong>in</strong> the gorgeous sett<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>Lichfield</strong><br />
Cathedral.<br />
Mark<strong>in</strong>g the 200th anniversary of Florence<br />
Night<strong>in</strong>gale's birth, biographer Mark Bostridge is giv<strong>in</strong>g<br />
an <strong>in</strong>sight <strong>in</strong>to her fasc<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g life; while return<strong>in</strong>g<br />
author Henry Hitch<strong>in</strong>gs talks on why Samuel Johnson<br />
still matters today; and historian Nathan Am<strong>in</strong> shares<br />
his knowledge on The Beaufort family.<br />
Garden<strong>in</strong>g fans can hear Beth Lynch <strong>in</strong>spire you to<br />
f<strong>in</strong>d "a sense of well-be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a green place of one's<br />
own". There is plenty for fiction fans too - not least<br />
'Killer Women', a crime writ<strong>in</strong>g panel of fiction authors.<br />
Among debut authors to discover are Ashley<br />
Hickson-Lovence's hard-hitt<strong>in</strong>g 'The 392' and Susannah<br />
Stapleton's 'Adventures of Maud West: Lady Detective'.<br />
There is plenty for younger festival-goers too, with a<br />
fairy tale themed creative writ<strong>in</strong>g workshop, <strong>Lichfield</strong>'s<br />
very own prize-w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g Laura Wood, and a thrill<strong>in</strong>g<br />
chance for families to meet the editor of what is<br />
undoubtedly the most popular non-fiction children's<br />
book of all – The Gu<strong>in</strong>ness Book of Records.<br />
The theme for <strong>Lichfield</strong> Festival this year is art<br />
<strong>in</strong>spired by art, so the programme features work<br />
<strong>in</strong>spired by other art forms, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g dance and<br />
theatre, as well as the Festival's very first poetry slam<br />
with former Staffordshire poet laureate Emily Galv<strong>in</strong>.<br />
All sessions are <strong>in</strong>teractive with book read<strong>in</strong>gs, a<br />
chance to ask questions and buy signed copies of books.<br />
