If you have both HIV-1 andHBV, your HBV may suddenly getworse if you stop taking BIKTARVY.Do not stop taking BIKTARVY withoutfirst talking to your healthcare provider,as they will need to check your healthregularly for several months.ABOUT BIKTARVYBIKTARVY is a complete, 1-pill,once-a-day prescription medicineused to treat HIV-1 in adults andchildren who weigh at least 55 pounds.It can either be used in people whohave never taken HIV-1 medicinesbefore, or people who are replacingtheir current HIV-1 medicines andwhose healthcare provider determinesthey meet certain requirements.BIKTARVY does not cure HIV-1 or AIDS.HIV-1 is the virus that causes AIDS.Do NOT take BIKTARVY if you also takea medicine that contains: dofetilide rifampin any other medicines to treat HIV-1POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF BIKTARVYBIKTARVY may cause serious sideeffects, including: Those in the “Most Important InformationAbout BIKTARVY” section. Changes in your immune system.Your immune system may getstronger and begin to fight infections.Tell your healthcare provider if youhave any new symptoms after youstart taking BIKTARVY. Kidney problems, including kidneyfailure. Your healthcare providershould do blood and urine tests tocheck your kidneys. If you developnew or worse kidney problems, theymay tell you to stop taking BIKTARVY. Too much lactic acid in your blood(lactic acidosis), which is a serious butrare medical emergency that can leadto death. Tell your healthcare providerright away if you get these symptoms:weakness or being more tired than usual,unusual muscle pain, being short ofbreath or fast breathing, stomach painwith nausea and vomiting, cold or bluehands and feet, feel dizzy or lightheaded,or a fast or abnormal heartbeat. Severe liver problems, which in rarecases can lead to death. Tell yourhealthcare provider right away if youget these symptoms: skin or the whitepart of your eyes turns yellow, dark “teacolored”urine, light-colored stools, lossof appetite for several days or longer,nausea, or stomach-area pain. The most common side effects ofBIKTARVY in clinical studies werediarrhea (6%), nausea (6%), andheadache (5%).These are not all the possible side effectsof BIKTARVY. Tell your healthcare providerright away if you have any new symptomswhile taking BIKTARVY.You are encouraged to report negativeside effects of prescription drugs to theFDA.
