Saint Jonas' Festival, also known as Rasa (Dew
Holiday), Joninės, Kupolė, Midsummer Day or Saint John's
Day, is a midsummer folk festival celebrated on June 24
all around Lithuania.
For thousands of years, Balts, the ancestors of the
Lithuanians, have celebrated the summer solstice (Rasa
to the Lithuanians) by offering sacrifices to the pagan
gods.
On the night of June 24th, everything is possible. It’s
like Christmas, only in summer…
Singing songs and dancing around bonfires until the sun sets
Searching to find the magic fern blossom at midnight
Jumping over the bonfire, which would cleanse you of bad luck, sins and
illness
Greeting the rising midsummer sun and washing the face with a morning
dew
Young girls float flower wreaths on the water of river or lake.

TOURIST GUIDE
FAMOUS BARCELONA
La Sagrada Família Basilica by Antonio Gaudí
La Sagrada Família is one of Gaudí's most famous works in Barcelona. It's a giant
Basilica that has been under construction since 1882 (that's not a typing error)
and it's not expected to be completed for some time yet.
Las Ramblas - Barcelona's most famous Street
La Rambla, or "Las Ramblas", as it is sometimes called, is Barcelona's most
famous boulevard.
Here you will not only find many interesting shops, restaurants and buildings but
also street performers
The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc - one of my favourite
Barcelona Sights
One attraction which is popular and in my opinion a "must" visit is "The Magic
Fountain of Montjuïc". This is a light, music and water extravaganza that just
can't be missed.
Performances are nightly but times vary depending on the time of year
La Pedrera - Casa Mila by Antonio Gaudí
Another one of Antonio Gaudí's creations once again hits the top 10 most visited
attractions in Barcelona. This building used to be called Casa Mila but nowadays
it's more commonly known as La Pedrera which means "quarry". Gaudí was
instrumental in completing this building and his characteristic wavy brick work and
colourful tiles are also evident on this masterpiece.
Barcelona FC Museum
No surprises here. If you are a football fan then this museum is a must see. It
has wall to wall trophies, pictures and statues of the great players
Park Guell by Gaudi
Park Güell is a wonderful large park
designed by Antoni Gaudí. You can enter
the park free of charge however there is
also an area called the "Monumental Area"
which you would have to pay to get into.
You will find more details below on the
Monumental Area.
When you visit the park you will see
amazing stone structures, colourful
ceramic tiles and the house were Gaudí
lived. You can easily spend half a day on a
visit to this park
Picasso Museum
The museum has arranged
Picasso's paintings in
chronological order from his
early days to his final
works. Arranging the
paintings in this way gives
you a fascinating insight
into the development of
Picasso thinking over time
and shows how he developed
the distinctive designs that
he is famous for today. A
popular art gallery
Plaça Reial
Plaça Reial is a picturesque square situated just off La Rambla. The square offers
you a relaxing spot to have a coffee or a bite to eat and just take in the
atmosphere. The square has a beautiful fountain in the centre and some fine
restaurants and bars. There are also two large, distinctive lamposts in this square
which were designed by Gaudí and represent some of his first commissioned works.
At the foot of each the lamposts you will see a plaque that identifies them.
