The Race to Lourdes
Challenge
• Students from across Our Lady of
Lourdes schools were due to be
travelling to Lourdes, France, in
July.
• Unfortunately because of the
Corona Virus pandemic this has
pilgrimage has not been possible.
• As part of the challenge each
schools is aiming to cover the
1501km the pilgrims from
Nottingham would have travelled.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes
The town of Lourdes is a
world-famous pilgrimage
site of the Catholic Church.
The pilgrimage site features the
Massabielle Grotto.
It is here a young girl called
Bernadette Soubirous saw a
vision of Virgin Mary.
Race to Lourdes
Challenge
The students, parents and staff
from each school will be working
together to achieve the
following:
1: The first school to reach
Lourdes, France
2: The school who covers the
greatest distance during the full
week.
KEY INFORMATION
• Start: 9am Monday 6 th July
• Finish: 9am Monday 13 th July
• Students, parents & teachers
• Walk, run or cycle
• Record evidence of how far you have
travelled
• Use apps such Strava, Fit-bit, Runkeeper,
Health (Apple I-phone) to
record
• Upload your evidence and submit to
Mrs Logan via
slogan@christtheking.notts.sch.uk
• E.g. if a family of 4 cover 10k and
both children attend the school, they
have completed 40k for their school’s
total
• Maximum of 1 entry per day, per
person. Thus 7 entries max in total
