SA RIDERS SHINE
ONCE AGAIN IN U(SA)
It was another
spectacular
weekend in the
USA for the boys
from SA at Road
America 2. As we
stated last time
the “U of SA”
seems to be the
apt name for this
championship.
And if it
continues into
the shortened
version of
the 2020
Championship,
the top steps
could be filled
and owned by
SA riders in all
three of the
classes they are
fighting in.
Dominic “Dominator” Doyle
once again put his Bartcon
Racing Kawasaki on the top
step of the 2020 Junior Cup
race one, and then was joined
by Sam Lockhoff in race two,
as the two South Africans
secured yet another podium
spot, albeit not the top step.
The man closest to Doyle, and
we say this with all puns and
meaningful parts of speech
intended, is none other than
2019 champion, Rocco Landers,
Cam Petersen
(45) leads the
Superstock
1000 field.
who only finished a mere 0.069
of a second behind Doyle in
the heat. Landers returned
the favour in heat 2 and Doyle
is going to have his work cut
out for him to stay on top but
considering the fact that every
time he climbs on his Little
Ninja, he keeps lowering the lap
records at tracks he races at is
a big concern for all his rivals
and they are definitely going to
have to work on something to
keep him off the podiums.
Dominic
Doyle makes
it 3 wins ina-row
Another podium
for Sam Lockhoff
Cameron Petersen just keeps
improving all the time and this
time went all out to ensure his new
fiancé was suitably impressed, not
only by the ring Petersen had given
her in the week, but crowned it off
with a race win too. He did have
a few brake issues and the team
literally re-adjusted his setup just
before the bikes rolled out for the
heat. His holeshot and win makes us
at RideFast think he should maybe
propose every race weekend if the
results are that he wins races.
“If I knew this would change the
game, I would have done it a long
time ago...” said Petersen at the post
race press conference.
“Melissa and Eric put me on a
machine that would not be a risk
to my life, but as my confidence
grew in the race I was able to keep
ahead. I look forward to the next
round where hopefully we have
now ironed out any of the gremlins
from Round 1.”
