Scene 8: They ended up finding 3 more men, leaving the majority still missing somewhere. Everyone he

had sent to the east of the town had not been heard from. Three groups had been sent in that direction,

meaning five of the men were still missing, and four – Pigman still could not believe this – were dead. In

what seemed the most dangerous part of the city, the East, was a large fortress, surrounded by an old

stone wall and two large watch towers. On the towers hung banners, although the Captain could not make

out the pattern on them, if there was a pattern at all. It was beginning to get dark, and the remaining crew

were feeling uneasy. From the abandoned houses came creaks and bangs that made the men ever jumpier.

They were getting to the point where the town ended, and the forest started. In the gloom of the trees

came even worse noises. Grumbles and groans and growls came from the shadows, and no one wanted to

be the first to enter the forest. Pigman was about to volunteer when a twig snapped in the gloom. They

heard a bush rumble and then the sound of footsteps. Footsteps moving slowly but surely towards where

they were standing. Pigman heard one of the younger men whimper. No one spoke a word. He could now

hear two sets of footsteps. The ones that were coming from the forest, but also the ones of some of his

crew moving back. A bunch of cowards, Pigman thought, but then he realised he was also taking a couple

of steps back. He gave a sharp look to his crew, who hesitated but stopped. Magmo pulled out his sword

and stepped towards the wood. Still no one said anything, no one volunteered, and only Magmo moved.

His figure became less visible as he kept walking, further into the darkness…
