Danish
Design Report
By Tatjana Schantz Johnsson
Danish design is blooming with innovative and
smashing ideas. Home luxury for environmentally
conscious consumers - colors to brighten
up the day and funky and humorous shapes
to keep up the spirit. All designed and created
with a simple recognizable Scandinavian
touch by the use of top class elements.
TABLO – a three-legged design beauty
TABLO is a new elegant table on three legs, very Scandinavian in its simplicity - yet interesting
in essence with the interaction between two different materials - the plastic table
top and the wooden ash legs. Easy to assemble without use of screws, come in two sizes
H42, D:50/78cm in black and white. The name Tablo cleverly refers to the English table and
French word ‘tableau’ – meaning a scenic, organized arrangement!
Ray of light in an industrial way
The RAYS range is an elegant collection of instantly recognizable dishes, bowls and candle
holders with a characteristic slender array of ‘arms’. RAYS dishes and bowls are meant
to hold fruit and candles, but they also make an attractive decoration in their own right
on any surface. The range casts sensitive shadows on tables and surfaces. On a practical
note, the open design of the bowls makes the fruit displayed kept oxygenated - keeping
brown fruit spots at bay. Created by the industrial designer Trine Mervig. Height of candleholders
varies: 22, 28 & 34cm.
