„Es ist dieser ganz besondere
Ganter-Teamspirit, der maßgeblich
für unseren Erfolg ist!“
“ The extraordinary Ganter team spirit is the key to our success!”
Was vor
It’s hard to believe that a quarter of a century of Ganter lies behind us! What began
25 years ago in a small flat in Waldkirch is now an international company with over
250 employees. This development was funda mentally based on the expertise and enormous
commitment of our employees as well as the company’s adaptability. This has all
been impressively illustrated in our company timeline (pp. 10–17).
It is particularly gratifying that, despite the enormous growth and all the changes, the company
has maintained a special team spirit over all these years. Although the Ganter family
is now based in many locations, some of them far away, our cohesion has not suffered
as a result. This constancy within the company is and has always been decisive for our
success, as is shown, for example, when employees look back on their journey with
Ganter (pp. 38–45). The key to these personal successes is not least this extraordinary
Ganter team spirit.
And something else has shaped us despite all our flexibility and innovative spirit:
we always remembered where we came from, in terms of craftsmanship and location.
I am deeply convinced that it is precisely this combination – a great openness to new
ideas on one side and a certain down-to-earth attitude on the other – that will equip us
for the future. As a partner and member of the Advisory Board, I will be able to concentrate
on making Ganter fit for the future in this sense. My thanks go to all customers,
architects, partners and employees who have placed their trust in Ganter over the past
25 years. My greatest goal is to continue to earn this trust in the coming years.

bezogene Ganter-Tower in Tauberbischofsheim.
und immenses Know-how.
Today, perhaps more than ever, we are being taught how important experience and knowledge
are for dealing constructively and creatively with the challenges of the present. In this
sense, we will be able to draw on our eventful and successful past for a good future. Ganter
not only looks back on 25 years of shop fitting in all its facets, but also on numerous successfully
implemented projects in other business segments. For example, the Ganter Commercial
Team has realised numerous hotels, office complexes and public spaces in recent years.
The Ganter Tower in Tauberbischofsheim, which has just been occupied, is a good example
of this success. And also in our newest departments, such as Product Design & Procurement
or Facility Management, Ganter has long since made a name for itself.
The fact that we succeed time and again in launching new business segments is primarily due
to our employees. After all, customer loyalty in all fields can only be achieved through excellent
service and a level field of communication. Again and again, our teams convince through
their great commitment, reliability and immense knowledge. Through this engagement, our
employees maintain a multitude of long-standing relationships with architects, planners, customers
and service providers. Of course, expanding and maintaining this network is still one
of our most important concerns. We look forward to achieving great things together with you –
true to our motto: Completed to Perfection!

As is well known, nobody conquers the world with
phrases such as “It's always been this way” or
“We've never done it this way before”. For this
reason, wor king at Ganter has always involved
networking expertise and adopting unusual perspectives
together. This is the only way to achieve
the innovation that customers demand at an international
level.
information have therefore long been part of the
everyday work of the Ganter teams.
However, it is not only an adequate infrastructure
that is required here, but increasingly also the
deployment of project managers who are not only
specialists in their field but also great all-rounders
with a feel for necessary know-how, cultural differences
and communication on an equal footing
with customers and architects. These diverse qualities
dis tinguish a Ganter project manager, regardless
of the business area in which he or she is
based.
Moreover, these are not the only challenges of the
mo ment. 25 years ago, the aim in shop fitting was
to produce and assemble attractive and highquality
furniture so that the customer's products were
shown off to best advantage. This still rings true
today, but modern department or concept stores also
demand that the retail experience is turned into
an “event” for the customer. Displays many metres
high, chandeliers weighing several tonnes or an
eye-catching surf wave in sports shops – with unusual
designs and concepts, today's retailers create
Project management
across borders
Ganter teams work successfully because they are prepared to think and act beyond
the boundaries of their own areas of expertise. Time and again, the often international teams perform
pioneering work in this respect. In dealing with new technologies and materials as well as
in developing innovative and efficient work processes.
In all business fields, projects are becoming increasingly
complex in technical, logistical and legal terms,
not least because they are located all around the
world. To respond to this in an appropriate manner,
Ganter has set up international and virtual teams
which work together from different locations and
complement each other, for example in their knowledge
of applicable legal regulations. With two
locations each in Germany, France and Italy, as
well as one in Switzerland and Great Britain, Ganter
is pre sent throughout Europe. Accordingly, the company
has created the digital infrastructures to enable
colleagues to work together efficiently on an
international level. The sharing of data, the regulation
of access rights and the multimedia flow of
impressive worlds of experience to set themselves
apart from online retail. This also has consequences
for the Ganter Retail Team: in one sense, these
requirements open up enor mous scope for design,
and in another sense, they require a level of knowledge
which is not traditionally found in shop fitting.
In order to pool the required expertise, project
managers at Ganter are therefore increasingly becoming
contact hubs for the project network. They
recruit the respective experts from a growing network
of internal and external specialists and have
them on the construction site according to a precisely
timed schedule – a dynamic work process that
requires completely transparent capacity planning.

Both the unusual requirements and the different work assignments
provide variety, as Martin Wehrle, Business unit manager at
Ganter, emphasises: “Even if we do not always know the solution
immediately and have to tinker with it first – ultimately, it is precisely
the new and unusual expectations of our customers that
make our work so interesting.”
The pressure to innovate promotes creativity – which also applies
to the other Ganter business fields. An example project from
Ganter Commercial team is particularly impressive in illustrating
what it means when a project suddenly grows unexpectedly but
must not under any circumstances disrupt the customer's day-to-day
business. The core refurbishment of a five-star Park Hotel in Bremen
was an “open-heart surgery” of a project.
The original plan was to renovate 240 rooms on five floors.
However, it soon turned out that almost half of the rooms nee ded
a core renovation. Because interrupting the ongoing hotel operations
for a longer period was out of the question, the project
required a meticulous and binding time schedule.
At no time was the hotel completely closed, which meant that quiet
periods had to be observed at all times, and it was clear from
the outset when each room would be occupied by hotel guests
again. The project management therefore had to keep an eye
on every project participant: the hotel management and the guests,
the craftsmen and the Ganter team members. “It is definitely not
easy, but it is certainly interesting,” explains Friedbert Kury, Business
unit manager at Ganter, “especially since the construction period
was not allowed to be extended significantly, even though we did
not only carry out superficial renovations, but also core renovations.”
The Ganter Commercial team is frequently confronted with
such mammoth projects, where the sheer dimensions and adherence
to a scrupulous schedule are crucial.
In the business field Residential, on the other hand, the central issue
is meeting very specific customer requirements. Empathy, discretion
and creativity are particu larly important here. To create an “oasis”
for residents to live out their individual ideas, complex technical
installations as well as special fittings and claddings are often
required which must be taken into account as early as the planning
phase. The demand for the most modern computer-controlled
building services are now also practically taken for granted.
Although these projects may at first seem straightforward compared
to a hotel renovation, the challenge here is often in the
detail. The Ganter Residential team is proud to be able to respond
to unusual client requests in all project phases. “For us, it is all
about exclusivity and making dreams come true. We react flexibly
to the concerns of our customers and can offer them the service
of adapting processes as desired even during the construction
phase, as well as incorporating subsequent conversions and
changes in plans. We see this as one of our core tasks”, explains
Martina Kiefer, Business team manager at Ganter.
Completing the service portfolio, Ganter now also takes care of
prestigious properties long after the keys have been handed
over. For four years now, Ganter Facility Management has also
been operating buildings from all business fields and ensuring
smooth operation and value retention of the properties. Ganter’s
characteristic work is also reflected in this team: without an open
mind, fantastic networking scope and state-of-the-art technologies,
the high standard of quality could hardly be achieved.

für ein
nachhaltiges
Morgen
an: „Be inspired to think and act differently for a sustainable
Spezialistenteam – Designer, Entwickler, Produktionsspezialisten
Wer das erreichen will, stößt allerdings
In diesem Sinne steht Ganter Product
„spark“. Diese entstand aus der Notwendigkeit heraus, beim
Projektmanagement fundierte Entscheidungen „on the spot“

The Ganter Product Design & Procurement (PDP) team aims to
inspire people to break out of habitual patterns of thought and
take responsibility for a resource-saving future. It invites people
to approach projects in a new way and to open their mind to sustainable
development processes. For example, when it comes to
the targeted use of resources and recyclable materials, the department
offers completely new solutions: “Be inspired to think and
act differently for a sustainable tomorrow” – this guiding principle
of Ganter PDP is not just a lip service, but also an attitude that
everyone in the team embodies.
A key factor in this is the so-called "cradle to cradle" principle,
which aims to develop closed product cycles in which a product
is fully recycled when it has reached the end of its useful life.
The young team of specialists – designers, devel opers, production
specialists and implementers – therefore takes every phase of a
product's life into account, from resource-saving production to the
recycling of raw materials with as little waste as possible. Usually,
those who want to achieve this quickly reach their limits within
traditional production processes and systems, both in terms of
technical implementation and costs. We keep the “big picture”
in mind while developing tangible solutions. In this sense, Ganter
Product Design & Procurement acts not only as an implementer but
also as a development consultant.
One such step towards more sustainability is the augmented reality
software “spark”, developed by Ganter PDP. It was developed
out of the need to make well-founded, on-the-spot decisions in
project management, and save time and resources at every step
of development. This is why the software for product development
is of course also used by our team – here, prototype costs are
saved significantly, as we are able to evaluate products 1:1 digitally.
But also our customers from different branches benefit from
the various possibilities of the app to make their products experienceable,
assessable and shareable in real time. With the help
of a mobile device, “spark” enables the various possibilities of
modular shop fittings to be simulated and presented with millimetre
precision. This not only prevents long development periods, but
also makes it possible, for example, to test the versatile application
possibilities of shop systems in advance, or to plan merchandising
concepts at an early stage and communicate them consistently.
Material waste and time- consuming subsequent changes can thus
be easily avoided.
now for a
The department also deliberately branches out from the familiar
endeavours of Ganter and works together with external partners
for case studies. To advance in the retail sector, for example, tests
are carried out together with retail partners to exchange ideas
about the future of retail shopping. How could digital solutions
directly at the point of sale provide customers with the necessary
information, address them emotionally and support them in their
purchasing decisions – and all this without additional staff effort?
However, much simpler changes are often enough to protect
the environment. For a customer project from the drugstore sector,
Ganter PDP is working on the production of product displays,
with recycling being taken into account right from the design stage.
Accordingly, the various components of the product displays are
no longer glued together but joined mechanically or by positive
locking so that they can be recycled later without any problems
and in accordance with the raw material requirements.
Because Ganter PDP wants to act as independently and freely as
possible, the team also focuses on designing, testing, producing
and marketing its own products. The internal test laboratory aims
to provide customers with even better and more comprehensive
advice. As a pilot project, Ganter PDP developed a men's beauty
care set consisting of a comb, beard comb and brush, nail file
and nail scissors in a practical bag – all realised exclusively with
environmentally friendly materials. Such pilot projects also serve
to highlight existing gaps in the sustainable development process.
For example, the team noticed that it makes little sense to develop
a sustainable and locally produced product, but to use classic
plastic-based filaments in 3D printing in the test stage. In the search
for alternatives, Ganter Product Design & Procurement is currently
conducting research together with universities and research centres
in order to advance the topic of lignin-based ink printing. This
would make it possible for the first time to print wood-based and
fully compostable prototypes.
Making strides in research in order to directly fulfil customer needs
in combination with sustainability – this is perhaps the best way
to sum up the work of Ganter PDP. And the more customers are
inspired by it, the greater progress can be attained.

Auch diese Gewährleistungsverfolgung von Bauprojekten ist
eine höchst anspruchsvolle, vielseitige und oft zeitintensive
Aufgabe.

Anyone who operates a building responsibly values transparency, economic efficiency
and sustainability. Only well thought-out organisation
of all areas of property management guarantees value retention
and long-term functionality.

Today, Ganter Facility Management ensures ideal operating conditions
in many buildings including private homes, public buildings
and modern office complexes. Ganter takes on this role,
regardless of whether we were previously responsible for the
construction or extension of the building. Ganter even develops
customised service packages for properties which are already in
operation, adapted to the respective requirements and the type
of property.
In a personal meeting, we first find out which services are possible
and which improvements are necessary in the area of operator
responsibility. In this way, we develop an individual, economical
solution for each property. The service spectrum ranges from the
development of an operator concept for subsequent independent
implementation to an all-inclusive package for sophisticated private
properties. These service packages can include almost every thing,
from maintenance and support of complex technical systems to
energy consulting, janitorial services, cleaning services and the
maintenance of outdoor green spaces.
To ensure that everything is set for the future, this detailed consultation
and needs analysis is followed by comprehensive data
collection. The aim is to collect and structure all information
about the respective building in such a way that everyone stays
informed at all times. For this thorough documentation, the Ganter
team benefits not only from the expertise of technical installations
but also from the knowledge of all relevant regulations and legal
provisions.
Operators of buildings have to observe a large number of regula
tions and obligations. In addition, the required maintenance
work and inspection intervals vary according to local requirements
and technical installation. It is therefore a considerable effort to

familiarise oneself with all requirements and keep an eye on everything
over the years. At the customer's request, Ganter there fore
also assumes responsibility for meeting all deadlines and documenting
everything in a legally compliant manner. The latter is
a prerequisite for determining liability in the event of defects.
Keeping track of warranties for construction projects is also a
highly demanding, versatile and often time-consuming task. Reports
on any defects to those responsible for the building must
be made in a technically and legally precise manner so as not
to forfeit claims. Because the Ganter Facility Management
team not only has the necessary specialist knowledge, but also
the familiarity with building contracts and great instincts when
dealing with people and institutions, we can act professionally
on behalf of our clients and their buildings.
Another topic which is playing an increasingly important role in
the operation of buildings is energy management. Ganter energy
controlling focuses on identifying energy saving potential, increasing
efficiency and reducing consumption. With the support of
state-of-the-art digital solutions, consumption can be easily determined
and data reliably evaluated to initiate appropriate measures,
thus reducing energy costs while protecting the environment.
Ganter is also happy to support its custo mers for appropriate
energy audits and certifications.
It goes without saying that digitalisation plays a prominent role
not only in energy management but also for the operation of
buildings as a whole. With Computer Aided Facility Management
by Ganter, modern software solutions interconnect perfectly
and ensure maximum transparency and optimum control. From
the app to the cloud, the team equips its customers with a complete
database, the necessary software and corresponding applications
to enable them to operate their properties from anywhere
in a modern way. A central tool here is the so-called
dashboard. Here, open and completed processes, reaction
times, costs and much more are displayed to all involved parties.
The most important data and statistics are thus accessible at any
time and on all devices. The Facility Management app and the
reports portal from Ganter are equally important. With them,
owners, tenants or employees at reception can easily file fault
reports and work orders, and follow up on the measures taken.
For example, it is possible to see when a tradesperson announces
his arrival and when a work process is completed – all without
lifting a finger. All data is stored promptly and fully automatically.
Of course, Ganter Facility Management also takes care of garden
maintenance and all caretaker services, thus ensuring the attractiveness,
cleanliness, safety and functionality of buildings and
facilities – benefitting private owners and business people, singlefamily
homes and real estate complexes alike.

Ganter France s.a.r.l. in Saint-Nazaire has already worked on
a total of seven cruise ships for the customer Chantiers de
l'Atlantique. The giant, world-famous ships launched from the
Atlantic shipyard and belong to the series “Celebrity Cruises”,
“MSC Cruises” and “Royal Caribbean International”. Several of
them were the largest ships of their kind when they were commissioned,
and the works Ganter performed were correspondingly
extensive. For example, an 800 m 2 solarium bistro, or the extension
of an entire deck with a total area of 1,200 m 2 . Promena des
with cocktail or chocolate bars, artist studios for children or even
a theatre – everything imaginable is offered to cruise guests, and
Ganter Saint-Nazaire makes this possible again and again.
Ganter faces two main challenges when it comes to the ship
interior: firstly, a cruise ship cannot be built overnight, but rather
over years. During this time, the ship owner can always be expected
to express new wishes. Ganter Saint-Nazaire has become
a specialist in responding flexibly to unexpected demands from
owners without jeopardising the shipyard's long-term plans or
compromising on quality.

Erwann Le Gal, Tanguy Patry, Andrea Ortega
Furthermore, the very long construction period requires the team
to work on several ships in parallel for different owners. This too
requires a judicious use of available resources and highly professional
project management. The knowledge and wealth of experience
of the Ganter team, which has meanwhile grown to 18
mem bers, expands with every new contract. The team has become
a steady link between the shipyard and ship owners.
Ganter France in Saint-Nazaire is proud to currently be involved
in all the ships Chantier de l'Atlantique is working on, and this is
unlikely to change in the future: the team is booked to capacity
until 2024 and by then nine more ships will benefit from Ganter's
expertise. In addition, Ganter has also been shortlisted for the
construction of the “MSC World Class”, which is to be launched
towards the end of 2020.
With so much success behind them, the team can look back
calmly on the initial tumultuous period. “Morgane, Yann and I
were alone at the beginning and somehow had to manage to
convince the shipyard of our skills – when we did not yet have
a network of subcontractors or even experience in shipbuilding.
The fact that we managed to convince not only the shipyard
Chantiers de l'Atlantique but also owners such as Royal Caribbean
Cruises to hire Ganter was certainly due to the fact that we – as
few as we were at the beginning – always firmly believed in
ourselves and our work,” recalls Sébastien Picard. Today, as
managing director of the Saint-Nazaire site, it is a great pleasure
for him to see his team and its expertise grow. The fact that people
with very different backgrounds and experience work so well
together and that experienced employees naturally support newcomers
also allows him to look to the future with confidence.
“Even if there were moments when we didn't know how we would
handle everything, it has become clear that it is often the delicate
and tricky situations that bring us forward in the long term. In
this respect, I am very grateful for all the experience with Chantier
de l'Atlantique, Ganter and above all with my team.”
One fundamental thing is equally true for Saint-Nazaire as for
con struction sites: our success can only be reached thanks to a
large network of partners and subcontractors, to whom reliability
and quality are just as important as Ganter.

be schlossen.
zumindest in Chefetagen.
In dieser Zeit also, 1995, gründet Michael Ganter gemeinsam
Pro duk tions stätten, eigene Produktlinien verzichtet man dabei
einem Start-up.
be rühmt-berüchtigten Anfängerfehler wollten gemacht und

Niederlassungen zunächst in Tauberbischofs heim, dann in
Familie vereinbaren lassen, antwortet Becherer pragmatisch:

auszuruhen, begann Ganter Interior
be son ders in Erinnerung bleiben. Sicher eines der
außergewöhnlichsten war 2009 ein Kongress zentrum,
im Grunde ein Palast, beauftragt vom usbekischen
Staatspräsidenten in Taschkent.

Raum bekommt. Unter den Anforderungen des Alltags setzt
man natürlich oft andere Prioritäten.“
Materialien abrate. Doch der Impuls für eine grundlegende
Ver änderung müsse letztlich vonseiten der Kunden kommen.
Denn was schon 1995 galt, das gilt noch heute: Ganter realisiert
in erster Linie Kundenwünsche – mit viel Einsatz, Freude
und Know-how.

Digital revolution, globalisation

of business fields – through
more than a quarter of a
century of change, the
original idea and spirit of
Ganter have endured.
Staying
loyal to
customers –
and true to

Michael Ganter and a team of
employees remember the beginnings.
Let us cast our minds back to 1995: Christo unveiled the Reichstag
building in Berlin; Steffi Graf won Wimbledon for the sixth
time; and at a summit meeting of the European Union, the imminent
introduction of a single currency was announced. Computers
had already found their way into offices, and although impressive,
they were still a long way from being user-friendly. Mobile
phones were already available, at least for executives – the real
progress these clunky devices represented remained to be seen.
It was at this time, in 1995, that Michael Ganter and a partner
founded a company whose vision was to offer retailers and
interior designers a single-source shop fitting service, including
modern concepts for whose implementation Ganter promised to
bring together and coordinate all the necessary tradespeople and
service providers. The company deliberately refrained from own
production facilities and product lines and instead relied on maximum
flexibility and a constantly growing network. These ideas
were equally innovative and successful, showing considerable
development potential right from the start. Even though the term
had not yet come into use, this was the beginning of a “start-up”.
Ganter’s innovative approach was, among other things, to operate
as a shop fitter with a solid background in craftsmanship not
only regionally but throughout Germany. This paid off: more and
more employees joined the company, and soon the first company
headquarters, a small flat in Waldkirch Steinmattenstraße 17,
became too small. Andreas Hummel, the first Ganter employee
(who has been at the company since January 1996) still remembers
well what prompted him to apply. He had just finished his
studies at a university of applied sciences and lived in the immediate
vicinity. He noticed two things that were characteristic of
Ganter from the very beginning and were destined to remain so.
He noted the modern computers which could be seen in the
windows of the flat, and also how the light was often on until
well into the night. The company obviously valued the use of
modern technology – and were motivated to work tirelessly
every day. Daniel Henke, who has been with the company
since 2000, remembers his job interview well. Michael Ganter
held it on a Saturday because there was no time during the
week. On this occasion, Henke was one of the first to see the
new business premises in the “Fabrik Sonntag”. The now six employees
had 220 square metres of space at their disposal. Smiling,
Michael Ganter explains that he recruited the first hundred
employees himself. Not only did he conduct the job interviews,
but he also drew up the contracts. At that time, he knew everyone
personally and knew when his employees had birthdays.
It was a wonderful and challenging time.
Pioneering spirit and excitement still prevailed, because there was
enormous possibility in every project: to shine and make good
money or to fail spectacularly. The notorious beginner’s mistakes
had to be made and eradicated. Andreas Hummel remembers
his first shop fitting in the Würzburg fashion house Schlier: “As is
so often the case, time was short and the customer was demanding.
Nevertheless, everything seemed to go well until they tried
to hang the shelves. The fact that two different track systems do
not necessarily fit together became painfully obvious, and none
of the people involved would ever make that mistake again.”
Daniel Henke also describes impressively how much the team,
which at that time was still largely made up of young men, continued
to learn more on each construction site. “Most of us came
from the timber construction industry, and the more demanding
and international the customers became, the less we were working
with wood. All kinds of materials were used, including plastics.
It was therefore an ever-growing challenge to find suppliers
who could bring the desired materials and know-how to the construction
site.”
Nevertheless, Ganter’s concept obviously worked: already in the
first year, the Mode Wagner project in Baden-Baden made it into
the book “Läden 1995”, and in the following years, projects realised
by Ganter were repeatedly awarded a spot in this “shop
fitting bible”. The business continued to grow, although the project
periods in the early years seem long in comparison to today. At
that time, offers and large-format designs were still sent by snail
mail, going to the copy shop was a regular occurrence, and
communication between the construction site and the office was
complicated: “In the beginning, we always came to the construction
site with a whole handful of ten-pence coins. If there was a
problem, someone would run to the nearest phone booth to call
the project manager in the office,” recalls Andreas Hummel with
a laugh. In addition to the dramatic innovations of digitalisation
and mobile communication, Ganter experienced another revolution
in the 2000s: the expansion of the first Burberry stores marked
the first time that the company began working with a major international
brand.

Porsche Design, Escada and others were also convinced by the
professional working methods at Ganter, and from the very beginning,
they also set high demands for the company. In particular,
the understandable desire for a partner who realises and implements
brand appearances not only in Germany and Europe, but
also worldwide, made it necessary to open further branches,
first in Tauberbischofsheim, then in Great Britain, France, Italy and
finally in Asia and the USA in 2010. The company’s headquarters,
however, always remained in the Black Forest. Here in
Waldkirch, Ganter had long since moved into the “Kraftwerk”, a
historic spinning and weaving mill whose rough industrial charm
has been preserved despite modern expansion. While the company
still had 20 employees when it moved in in 2000, by
2012 it had already grown to 275: Ganter Interior GmbH had
become a global player. When asked what challenges the internationalisation
of the company brought with it, Daniel Henke
answers like a shotgun: “Learning English and getting by with
little sleep”. Because, of course, international customers are not
responsible for making up for the time difference. “You may receive
a query at 3:00 a.m., or you have to catch a spontaneous
flight around the globe,” reports Henke. In addition, the company
had to be prepared to work in other countries for long periods
and make arrangements for staying there. Dealing with the respec-

tive regulations and training service providers on site also did
not always run smoothly. And if a specially developed jewelry
display case at a far away customer suddenly proves to be “too
safe” because it temporarily cannot be opened at all, and no
local craftsman understands the electrics, then there will be someone
breaking a sweat all the way back at the headquarters in
Germany. During the global expansion of the business, Barbara
Becherer also joined the Ganter team. From the very beginning
she worked intensively with international clients, and her contacts
in London, for example, were so close at times that “it was almost
like a family”. Her career is characteristic of the development not
only of the company but also of the individual employees. Having
started out as a construction technician, she soon took on a position
as team leader, then as senior project manager, and since
2018 she has been responsible for cost estimation. When asked
about balancing work and her family life, Becherer answers pragmatically:
“You have to have the right network, both professionally
and privately, otherwise it is never going to work.” Ganter’s
progress and organisational development may seem dizzying to
some, but flexibility and inventiveness are still vital to the company
today. The increasing online competition that is afflicting the traditional
retail trade is even noticeable in downstream sectors.
Instead of resting on its laurels, Ganter Interior therefore began to
break new ground at an early stage: the Commercial and Residential
business fields provided additions to the classic retail
sector. As a general contractor, Ganter now also implements construction
projects such as hotels, office spaces, private villas and
apartments. As is so often the case, it is the spectacular and bizarre
projects which are particularly memorable. Certainly one
of the most extraordinary ones in 2009 was a congress centre,
essentially a palace, commissioned by the Uzbek President in
Tashkent. Not only because the customer demanded more majestically
sized emeralds for the banister of a statement staircase
than the world market could provide, but also because all building
materials had to be flown in from Germany. “Basically crazy,”
comments Daniel Henke in retrospect. “That would probably not
be done today”. Emma Gray listens to these memories as an employee
who will be turning 25 years old with Ganter in 2020.
She came to the company in September 2018 to start her traineeship
as an industrial clerk with additional qualification and emphasises
how much she likes the family atmosphere. Of course, the
decisive factor is not the size of the company, but the prevailing
tone and friendly manner. She particularly appreciates the high
level of motivation and cohesion: “Of course, the stresses and
strains are great in some cases, but because the teams work so
closely together and on a level playing field, this particular dynamism
and excitement still remains today, and that outweighs
everything in the end” – an assessment that particularly pleases
Michael Ganter, who retired from the operative business this year
to join the newly founded advisory board. From this new perspective,
he intends to accompany the company’s path in the future.
“I also hope that I will once again be able to contribute more
creatively. Of course, there have often been other priorities among
the demands of everyday life.”
Another hope is expressed by the long-standing employees:
Andreas Hummel, Daniel Henke and Barbara Becherer hope
that the demand for sustainable and resource-conserving construction
will grow among more and more customers, especially
in the retail trade. In fact, although appropriate certificates are
already being demanded today, they say that a green revolution
is still a long way off. Ganter naturally encourages new ideas,
for example by advising against non-recyclable materials. But
the impetus for a fundamental change must ultimately come from
the customers. Because what was true back in 1995 is still true
today: Ganter realises first and foremost customer wishes – with
a great deal of commitment, pleasure and expertise.

Bisher stand Frankfurt weit eher für Banken
als für Beauty. Doch es ist Zeit, umzuden
ken: Auf 250 m 2 lädt der Kos me tik hersteller
Babor hier seit September 2019
vorweisen. Im öffentlichen Bereich wurde zudem
ein werkseitig eingefärbter und fugenloser Boden
belag auf Zementbasis verlegt und mit einer
hochwertigen Teppichware kombiniert. Türen
wurden als zargenlose, flachenbündige Elemente
eingesetzt, die sich zurückhaltend in das
Raum konzept fügen.
Highlights sind der von Ganter im Eingangsbereich
entwickelte Brunnen mit geschlossenem
Wasserkreislauf, der durch seine Ruhe und die
perfekte Wasserverteilung besticht, sowie die
Science-Bar, ein stilisiertes Forschungslabor, das
die weltweit bekannten Babor-Ampullen wirkungsvoll
in Szene setzt.

Until now, Frankfurt has always been best known for
banks rather than beauty. But it is time for a new
point of view: since September 2019, cosmetics
manufac turer Babor has been drawing visitors in
to a comple tely new beauty experience sprawled
over a space of 250 m 2 . The exclusive brand
store realised by Ganter in inner-city Frankfurt creates
an appetite for luxurious beauty care and was
notably honoured with the German Design Award
in the category “Excellent Architecture”.
Based on a design concept developed by Liganova,
Ganter as general contractor realises the complete
interior fittings with all finishing trades as well as
the furnishing components in only three months in
close cooperation with the customer. The elements
water and oil – two central ingredients for Babor
cosmetics – have influenced all areas of the Liganova
store design. Even the building materials such
as stone, aluminium, concrete and wood, and the
furniture allude to these two elements in colour and
texture.
The wall panelling made of real stone veneer and
high-quality laminate with an extra-matt finish can
also be found in the centre furniture, which features
additional elements of satin-finished glass. In the
public area, a specially dyed and seamless cement-based
floor covering has also been laid and
is com plemented by high-quality carpeting. The
doors are frameless and flush fittings that fit discreetly
into the room concept.
Highlights are the fountains with closed water circulation
developed by Ganter in the entrance area,
which impresses with its calm and perfect water
dis tribution, as well as the Science Bar, a stylised
laboratory that eye-catchingly displays the worldfamous
laboratory ampoules. In the back area,
there is a lounge, a room for skin analysis and five
spacious treatment rooms.

Wohl jeder, der die Empfangshalle des fran -
zö sischen Versicherers Covéa in Paris betritt,
spürt sofort die einzigartige Atmosphäre.
Eleganz trifft hier auf Gelassenheit, wofür in
erster Linie hochwertiger Marmor aus Carrara sorgt. Grau
Bodenmosaik eingelassen, wo darüber hinaus feinster Marquina
Projekt gefunden.
After two days of searching together in
the Carrara quarries, the team found the
perfect marble slab for this project.
Anyone entering the reception hall of the French insurance company
Covéa in Paris will be immediately struck by its unique atmosphere.
The design combines elegance and serenity, which is primarily
attributable to the high-quality marble from Carrara. A grey-andwhite
mottled design was used for the reception counter as well
as the walls, and is also embedded in the elaborate floor mosaic,
where the finest Marquina marble from Tuscany was additionally
incorporated.
As the general contractor, Ganter completed the construction of
the office together with the architects of the renowned Studio
Putman and the construction company Dumez in only five months.
In order to implement the numerous demanding details in such
a short time during construction, the team travelled to Italy the year
before and selected the perfect marble slabs in the Carrara
quarries. Over 1.6 million stones of this origin were then laid by
hand in Paris for the floor mosaic. Covering an area of 200 m²,
they now form an impressive display. The stylish reception counter
is also a visible sign of Ganter's many years of experience in
workmanship with exclusive materials.

optimales Raum klima sorgen.
ins Taubertal.
In October 2019, exactly one year after the topping-out ceremony,
the Ganter team Tauberbischofsheim moved into the modernly
equipped offices in the Ganter Tower. This new regional landmark
is the heart of a new commercial centre, where the Ganter Campus
has become a hub of innovation and economic development.
The commercial expert Ganter had been based in the Kurmainz
barracks on the Laurentiusberg for a number of years when the
company acquired a four-hectare site with several buildings there in
2012, two of which were extensively renovated and let out as office
complexes. The prestigious Ganter Tower project then began in
2016. During the construction of this seven-storey tower covering
a total area of 2,400 m 2 , Ganter not only aimed to develop an
adequate space for its own fast-growing team, but also with opening
up the former barracks site for contemporary forms of cooperation,
exhibi tions and cultural events. A seven-metre high event
room on the ground floor of the tower now offers an ideal space
for these endeavours.
Die Commercial-Spezialisten von
Ganter freuen sich auf den Einzug
in ihre neuen Büroräume auf dem
„Ganter Campus“.
The commercial specialists at Ganter
are looking forward to moving into their
new offices on the “Ganter Campus”.
Das Gebäude besticht durch archi tektonische
Klarheit und Raffinesse. Im
Treppenaufgang wurden von der 25 m
hohen Decke drei Pendelleuchten-
Systeme angebracht, die in Höhe
und Ausrichtung verschiebbar sind.
The building impresses with its architectural
clarity and sophistication. In
the staircase, three pendant luminaire
systems were installed from the 25 m
high ceiling, which can be moved in
height and orientation.
Reduction to the essential: the light glass façade of the Ganter Tower conveys openness
and transparency from the outside, while inside, the view from floor-to-ceiling windows
creates a unique working atmosphere.
When building the tower with its minimalist glass façade, Ganter
also valued the responsible and minimalistic use of resources and
a sustainable construction concept from the very beginning and
throughout the project. For this reason, only solid building components
were used which allow night-time cooling in the summer
months and heat storage in the winter months to ensure an optimum
indoor climate. In terms of interior design, the equally highquality
and flexible furnishing of the office space offers everything
that modern teamwork requires.
Ganter itself has moved into three of the seven floors. Currently
around 35 employees, who previously worked in Ganter Campus
Building No. 4, enjoy a spacious modern workplace and a spectacular
view down into the Tauber valley.

an Holztischen.
Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG has created a small piece
of the Black Forest in the Swabian state capital. For the “Rothaus
im Gerber” in the homonymous mall in Stuttgart, the blocher partner
interior designers presented a creative concept that ties in
Rothaus’s roots and interprets them in a modern way. The Black
Forest is rough, dark and mystical – but at the same time, it is
also light, calm and friendly. The concept picks up on these contrasts
and combines them with Black Forest living spaces and precise
craftsmanship.
The centrepiece is a massive, dark-green-tiled stove, which was
manufactured in the traditional way. As a central element in the
room, it underlines the perfect atmosphere in the fine “sitting room”
with its round bench and cosy cushions. Dinner is served at rustic
wooden tables, while smaller snacks and drinks can also be
enjoyed on stylish lounge chairs at wooden tables.
A particular challenge for the Ganter team in interior fittings is
perhaps most notably the three-dimensional wall cladding with
shingles made of light-coloured spruce wood, which abstractly
interprets the shape of fir cones in the lounge area.
The contrast between dark and light is also reflected in the emotional
lighting design, which Ganter implemented on the ceiling in the
form of a winding curved copper tube with integrated LED lights.
Optisches Highlight in der Lounge-Area
ist die riesige dunkelbraune Kuckucksuhr.
Optical highlight in the lounge area is the
huge dark-brown cuckoo clock.

Mit dem Meininger Hotel in Amsterdam hat Ganter

realisiert.

In addition to a wide range of rooms,
from classic double rooms to beds in
shared multi-bed rooms, the hotel has
attractive common areas such as a
guest kitchen for self-catering.
Following successful projects in Hamburg and Lyon, Ganter has
now realised the third hotel in succession of the internationally
successful hotel group Meininger in Amsterdam. With a central
location, favourable prices and a wide range of rooms, the concept
of the hotels is aimed at a wide variety of target groups –
from individuals to families and business people.
The conversion, undertaken during ongoing hotel operations, was
completed on schedule in only a few months. To fulfil this scheduling
requirement, the Ganter Commercial team performed to
the highest standards in terms of logistics and project management
and achieved an average completion rate of 30 rooms per week.
The furnishing of the rooms and common areas is based on the
indi vidual design concept of each hotel. Furniture, lighting and

Meininger according to the individual design specifications.

Beste Aussichten

Best perspectives at “Sonnenhöhe”
freuen. Weitere Informationen zum Projekt unter:

For the innovative large-scale project Sonnenhöhe
of Ganter Property Development GmbH in Breitnau
in the Black Forest, two buildings have been erected
in the first construction phase for senior-friendly
living in the third phase of life. The concept includes
several housing communities, each with 12
care places, care assistance during the day, assisted
living and a café. In the meantime, a doctor's
practice and pharmacy dispensary as well as a
practice for physiotherapy have now also been
acquired. Together with the diverse range of care
services offered by the St. Raphael senior citizens‘
centre, the tenants and owners of Sonnenhöhe
can now – in line with the original idea – be offered
an all-round package for carefree living.
The 21 modern apartments with living spaces
between 48 and 96 m 2 were sold within a few
months and the demand for apartments in assisted
living continues to be high.
This is one more reason for the GPD team led by
Klaus Schweizer to already start thinking about the
second construction phase with a further four point
buildings and a total of 45 apartments on the
23,000 m 2 site.
The construction site looks like a large jigsaw puzzle:
the timber construction elements for the two
L-shaped buildings were manufactured and assembled
at the Holzbau Bruno Kaiser company workshop
and delivered within five weeks. The walls
were also pre-produced, including insulation, façade,
windows and balconies. This meant that one
storey including the ceiling could be completed
within two weeks and the shell of the building was
finished within two months. Even the outer façade
was delivered in modules ready-to-assemble. In
the past few weeks, the interior construction continued
with screed work as well as electrical, sanitary
and painting work.
The Sonnenhöhe is also an exemplary project from
an ecological point of view. "The ecological balance
could not be better," assures Stefan Kuder mann,
pro ject manager at Bruno Kaiser. A great deal of
CO 2
is released during the production of concrete.
But the CO 2
is permanently stored in wood. In addition,
the wood used comes from local forests. So
the future residents can look forward to a pleasant
and healthy indoor climate after their planned move
to Sonnenhöhe in October 2020. Further information
on the project is available at:
www.sonnenhoehe- breitnau.de.
Die beiden Gebäude
wurden in vorgefertigter
Holzbauweise erstellt
und innerhalb kürzester
Zeit auf der Baustelle
aufgerichtet.
The two buildings were
erected with a prefabricated
timber construction
and installed on site
within a very short time.
Das attraktive Café lädt
zum Verweilen ein und
ist ein Ort der Begegnung
für Jung und Alt.
The café offers an attractive
space for young and old.
