Marion Philharmonic Orchestra

For five decades, the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra has inspired citizens of all ages in Grant

County and the surrounding communities with thrilling performances of the world’s great

music! Since it began in 1969, the MPO has evolved into a professional symphony with artistic

and educational initiatives that provide the framework for each concert series.

Area patrons have passionately supported the orchestra through season after season of

outreach programs for school children and countless collaborations with professional guest

artists and students and faculty from area universities. Scores of MPO concerts have enriched

our community and inspired the appreciation of symphonic music. The finest professional

musicians in Northern Indiana travel regularly to perform with the MPO.

The 2019-2020 season, which is the MPO’s 50 th anniversary, will feature exciting concerts

to celebrate this momentous milestone and will be conducted by our new maestro, Matthew

Kraemer! The first event is our children’s concert, which is a free event open to the public,

in September, featuring an orchestra of about 100 musicians at Indiana Wesleyan University.

A subscription series of six concerts will follow at Taylor University, Marion High School,

the Marion Library Museum, and other beautiful venues in the county.

To purchase tickets and for information on how you can become a supporter of the MPO,

adjacent to the Marion Public Library. The Carnegie Museum building

Boom era. This exhibit is interactive and covers this exciting era in

Grant County history when gas was discovered and businesses and

industries flourished. Future plans are underway for new exhibits

highlighting historical events in the history of Grant County.

In addition to the exhibits, the Museum also has a collection of Fine Art

which includes paintings from both Richmond and Nashville, Indiana

artists. Several paintings are on display in the Indiana Room, the

Library and in the Museum.

The Indiana History and Genealogy Department is also located in the Museum.

The Carnegie Museum periodically features special exhibits and partners with the Quilters Hall of

Fame during its annual July Quilt celebration.
