AT THE RIDGE
Our South African contingent continued their onslaught
of the Moto America Championship over the past
weekend. The season has been exceptionally close
despite the whole fight against the pandemic and what
that entails for Motorsport worldwide.

In the Junior Cup, Rocco
Landers (1) converted his
luck again and took the first
wins of race weekend, but as
usual with a rider who gets
away at the front he lost
valuable TV and online face
time and due to the incredible
battle between the two
SA riders Dominic Doyle
(25) and Sam Lochoff (57),
the director stayed with
their bar bashing action to
the line, with the Eastern
Cape youngster, Doyle just
popping Cape Towns Lochoff
to the line.
It was more of the same
in Race 2 where Liam Grant
and David Kohlstaedt were
definitely in a racy mood in
the Liqui Moly Junior Cup
and they both made some
daring passes for position.
Grant unfortunately went
down, but Kohlstaedt put
himself in fourth, just behind
Doyle and Lochoff
who were unable to catch
Landers, but just could not
get ahead of the champ.
Cam Petersen (45) seems
to be untouchable in the
Superstock 1000 category
taking his 4th win and decimating
the field again. He
was pushing initially to get
away, but in the end looked
very cool and calm across
the line, and his braking issues
certainly seemed to
be completely sorted out.
Petersen was also able
to finish in the top 10 in
the Honos Superbike Class
again, and we believe, as
with our other two Moto
GP heros across in Europe,
he is being looked at by
some bigger guns for 2021.

In the Superbike class,
action has been world
class all season long and
SAs hope Mathew Scholtz
(11) has been in it all the
way. This weekend was
more of same with Scholtz
taking a 2nd in Race 1 behind
Cam Beaubier.
Former teammates Josh
Herrin and Toni Elias wowed
the online viewers in Sunday’s
HONOS Superbike
race two at the Ridge Motorsports
Park. Elias made
a perfect pass on Herrin
in the final section leading
onto the front straight to
take over fifth, but it was
all for naught as he was
moved back to sixth in the
results because he missed
going through the chicane
after crossing the finish
line. Mathew was just off
the overall podium for race
2 but remains in contention
for the Championship.
“I just need to get some
wins...”, said Scholtz chatting
to MRW post race.
