Letter
Wow! Where do I start? The last few months have
certainly been a rollercoaster – and that’s a bit of
an understatement. After a long stint at home with
our families, the Wealden Times and Surrey Homes teams
have regrouped to put together the first of two double month
issues that we’ll be producing to complete 2020, before moving
back to our usual monthly magazine from February 2021.
We’ve so missed touring the South East taking in its wealth of
sights, events and stunning properties, but we’re now back with a
bang and eager as ever to catch up with where we left off. We were so
bitterly disappointed not only to have to cancel our 2020 Midsummer
Fair, but our Midwinter Fair too, and have spent the last few months
working hard to come up with an alternative to a ‘physical’ event.
It is with great excitement that we can now announce our Wealden
Times Midwinter Fair Online – a brand new online event which will
run from 12–15 November, where you can shop from the comfort
of your sofa, browsing gorgeous offerings from a host of hand-picked
exhibitors whilst taking advantage of special offers and discounts that

In the meantime, browse this issue’s interiors shoots and our

Elsewhere, our regular contributors have resumed their columns,
with Josephine Fairley spilling the beans on her lockdown beauty
finds, Sue Whigham reflecting on how the last few months have
impacted on the environment, Sarah Maxwell’s analysis of an
exercise revolution and Jane Howard’s grounding reflection of
farming life. And Jo Arnell has been busy in both the kitchen
and garden, giving us her horticultural tips alongside cooking
up an autumn feast to brighten the shortening days.
