Former
Head Girl
Gabriella reflects on her experiences
at Ashford School and what being
Head Girl has taught her
Being the Head Girl of Ashford School was without
doubt the best way I could challenge myself to
develop invaluable skills and inspire my peers.
I feel a strong will to give back to school, and the best
way I can do this is by being a role model to the student
body and by motivating not only
them but my teachers as well.
I have led an amazing team and had
the chance to be proactive in assigning
tasks that match each individual, coping
with challenges that arise unexpectedly
as well as improving our strategic
thinking and time-management skills
as a group. What I enjoyed the most is
that the position allowed me to always develop new ways
of operating, to take time to communicate with the others
to ensure that everybody is moving forward and to drive
people to reach success. I know people tend to look up to
someone who is honest and full of life and this is what I am
always willing to do, be who I am, be genuine and positive.
“I was given the courage to
step outside my comfort zone
and this is a skill which will
come in very useful as I go
on to study at University”
At the same time, I have achieved so many transferable
skills at my school by trying something I’ve never tried
before such as netball and hockey. I was given the courage
to step outside my comfort zone and this is a skill which
will come in very useful as I go on to study Liberal Arts
and Science at Maastricht University,
and also will hopefully stand me in
good stead in future employment.
Lastly, I was ready to expect the
unexpected and I did experience
mixed feelings as I faced different
challenges, but I could see myself
growing and discovering how to
thrive. From holding a speech in
front of an entire school for the first time to growing
into a responsible individual, the position of Head
Girl at Ashford School has offered me opportunities
at every turn to be the best version of myself.
