LABAN

Paaralan ang mundo ng kabataan

Dapat itong alagaan at

pahalagahan

Brigada Eskwela’y isulong sa bayan

Sapagka’t kailangan itong

pagtuunan

Kailangan paghandaan kahit sa

kagipitan

Dahil sa sakunang ating

kinakalaban

Edukasyon ay di dapat pabayaan

Ito ang bala na ‘di mapapantayan

Dumating man ang mundo sa

kawalan

Diyos lang ating malalapitan

At paaralan naman ang sandigan

Para sa kabataang hangad ay

kaginhawahan.

Guro,magulang o maging sino ka

man,

Malaya ka na makibaka sa laban

Kailanman ay Hindi hadlang ang

katayuan

Ang mahalaga ay kasama ka sa

laban.

Kailangang magtulungan sa

ikatutupad ng karangalan.

Paaralan..paaralan

Laban! laban! para sa kabataan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

MAGULANG….

A:

Hindi maikakaila na nagbigay ng pagkakataon

sa maraming pamilya ang Community Quarantine

upang magsama-sama at maglaan ng oras sa

bawat isa.

panuruang 2020-2021.

Ang madalas itanong ng mga magulang ay;

Ano ang pwedeng learning delivery modality

para sa aking anak?

Dahil sa banta ng COVID-19, magkakaroon ng

pagbabago ang paraan ng pagtuturo at pagaaral

ng mga estudyante sa darating na pasukan.

Binigyang diin ng Department of Education

darating na school year. Ayon kay USEC. San

Antonio, depende sa situwasyong pangkulusugan

ng isang lugar kung aling”Learning Delivery

Modality” ang ipatutupad ng mga paaralan

doon. Ilan sa mga ito ay ang mga sunusunod;

DISTANCE LEARNING - kung saan hindi pisikal

na magkasama o magkaharap ang guro at

estudyante.

learning.

MODULAR DISTANCE LEARNING – isang

slogan for this year’s activities.

This highlights the application

context of COVID-19.

This years’ Brigada Eskwela diverged

from the traditional concept of physical

BE also engaged partners in the promotion

and provision of learning options such as local

radio and TV stations and other available media,

and the printing of self-learning modules for

distance learning, as a form of partnership to

deliver the basic education curriculum in the

time of COVID-19.

The week-long “Brigada Eskwela” has evolved

into a brand-new packaging of cooperation

between the educators and the parents

of school children amid the corona virus

The Brigada Eskwela Program Components

are the following:

• Brigada Eskwela (National Maintenance

The Art of Giving

in the Midst of COVID-19

One of the best feelings in the world is planting seeds of happiness through sharing God’s

blessings. A little thing maybe a big help that lightens the burdens of others. Mt. View

Elementary School is very thankful to those people who extended their helping hands

just to support and make DepEd goals attainable in this school year 2020-2021. In this

time of pandemic, school’s stakeholders’ loving hearts and generosity are still overflowing; it’s a

great proof that God will provide and will never leave us in times of trials. Before the spread of

coronavirus, our Brigada Eskwela donations and pledges

are commonly allotted to construction, painting and

cleaning purposes of the school physical facilities.

In this school year, Brigada donations and pledges

focus on the safety and protection against the

deadly virus while giving quality educations to

our learners; compared with previous school

year that school beautification and physical

facilities are the main focus. To embrace this

new normal, we encouraged LGUs, NGOs,

private sectors and private individuals to donate

cleaning tools, disinfectants, facemasks, face

shield, sanitizing equipment, multivitamins etc.

An inspiring quote according to Winston S.

Churchill, “We make a living by what we get.

We make a life by what we give.” MVES faculty

contributed to give simple help to Barangay

Mt. View front liners and families in needs.

Some teacher representatives together with

the school principal delivered the goods and

it was received by Barangay Captain, Leoncio

Lungcay, last April 16, 2020.

Sharing is caring. Salute to all our ever

supportive MVES parents, teachers, teachers’

families and friends who gave their efforts to

sew and make personalized facemasks and face

shield; and donated some financial support,

disinfectants and cleaning materials. From April

to August 2020, their eagerness to help and

share are inevitable.

Last June 16, 2020, another good heart

from Department of Agriculture, Mr. Rolando

Z. Almario Jr., High Value Crops Development

Program Coordinator, donated some seeds

that may support sustainable development in

this COVID situation.

MVES family is very grateful to Maritime

Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) and

Rotaract Club of Mariveles Freeport for donating

two foot pressed alcohol disinfectants, reams of

bond papers, facemasks and cleaning materials

dated July 15 and July 17, 2020.

Big thanks and salute to those barangay and

local government officials for never ending

support to Mt. View Elementary School. An

American civil rights and women’s rights

activist once said, “Without community service,

we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s

important to the person who serves as well as

the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves

grow and develop.”

It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving. Last

June 25, August 2 and August 16, 2020, some individuals offered their

generous hearts. For those individuals who gave some financial support

to our school in this pandemic, please accept our deepest gratitude.

The MVES faculty and staff are sending gratitude and appreciation

to all the efforts, support, time, pledges and donations given by

different LGUs, NGOs and individuals with big hearts. Believe in

COVID-19 RESPONSE

OF MT.VIEW ES DURING BRIGADA ESKWELA

Due to the disruptions brought about by the COVID-19 crisis in the country, the Department

of Education (DepEd) has reconfigured the conducting annual activities of Brigada Eskwela(BE)

and Oplan Balik

Eskwela(OBE) as

stated in DepEd

memorandum no.

53 s.2020 to fully

assist the preparation

of stakeholders in

addressing problems,

concerns for the

coming school year(SY)

2020-2021.

With theme

“Pagpapanatili ng

para sa Kabataan.”the

joint conduct of BE

and OBE will be

undertaken from june

1 to august 29,2020.

This year’s BE and

OBE will also feature

the slogan “Bayanihan

aims to promote

sustainable and

safe living through

the “application

of knowledge and

convergence of

efforts to address

the required health

standards and social

issues at home,in

school, and in the

community in the

context of COVID-19.

As a response to

the public health

emergency, schools

should be prepared

for local and

community-wide

infectious disease

outbreaks. While it

is difficult to predict

when(or even if)

COVID-19 will rise

to the level of a

pandemic, there are

actions schools can

take to be ready for

such events.

That is why Mt. View

work collaboratively

with the Local

(LGUs) and other

non-government

organizations and

volunteers to raise

the availability of

various items such

as thermal scanners,

BE. School also promoted mental

health actions regarding how

to address the stress and daily

preventive actions for all staff,

students, through webinars as part

of Brigada Eskwela to engage

Mt. View Elementary School

has developed the Basic Education-Learning

Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) to address the learning

delivery modalities that school has chosen to

ensure that quality basic education will continue

despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.

Since distance learning will be a major learning

delivery component this coming school year, the

printing of materials and provision of supplies

for distance learning for the learners, teachers

and parents will also be coordinated. All activities

strictly comply the protocols on social distancing

and implementation of precautionary measures

provided by the authorities.

22

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic may

be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a new

disease and what could happen can be overwhelming

and cause strong emotions in adults and children.

Public health actions, such as social distancing, can

make people feel isolated and lonely and can increase

stress and anxiety. However, these actions are necessary to reduce

the spread of COVID-19. Coping with stress in a healthy way will

make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger.

Stress during an infectious disease outbreak can sometimes cause

the following:

• Fear and worry about your own health and the health of your

loved ones, your financial situation or job, or loss of support

services you rely on.

• Changes in sleep or eating patterns.

• Difficulty sleeping or concentrating.

• Worsening of chronic health problems.

• Worsening of mental health conditions.

• Increased use of tobacco, and/or alcohol and other substances.

Discussed by: DR. Aisee P. Cruz

Ensuring students and families are

safely reunited in case of unsafe and

unusual circumstances is one of the

goals of Mt. View Elementary School

that’s one of the reason why they

included a webinar about Student-

Family Reunification Protocol as one

of the topics for a webinar series as

part of Brigada Eskwela Program for the school

year 2020-2021.

Registered participants came from different

places inside Bataan, some came from various

provinces and there are few from other countries.

It was a free and open for all webinar. It was aired

via Facebook live.

The resource speaker,Dr. Aisee P. Cruz of Bataan

National Highschool, started with the purpose

of family reunification which is used to ensure

a safe and secure means of accounting for

students and reuniting parents/guardians with

their children whenever the child care facility or

grounds is rendered unsafe and a remote site is

needed. She then proceeded with the things to

be prepared for the reunification and continued

with the vital roles of school administration,

parents and students, reunification team and

everyone as it may affect the success of the

reunification.

to distance learning requires

teachers to recalibrate their role

and develop other skills which

can be very useful in delivering

instructions in the new normal.

This poses a great challenge

to schools in capacitating and

gearing up their teachers for the

upcoming school year.

In response to this challenge,

the Mt. View Elementary

School, as part of the Brigada

Eskwela 2020 Webinar Series,

conducted a webinar entitled

“Creating Video Lesson using

Microsoft Powerpoint” last

August 21, 2020. The said

webinar was broadcasted

through Facebook Live in order

to reach teachers from other

places not just in Bataan. Mr.

Bryan Jake Mangune, a Teacher

in Mariveles National High

School-Poblacion served as the

resource speaker.

The training started with the

singing of national anthem

and a prayer though an audio

video presentation (AVP). It was

Ask Ann Landers

followed by the introduction

of the resource speaker by

Sir Jonathan Escaro who

also served as the webinar

moderator.

Mr. Mangune started his

presentation by discussing

the benefits of video lesson

to students. He emphasized

that video lessons as

supplementary instructional

materials can make learning

more interesting and

accessible to students

especially in this time of

Pandemic. He also proposed

that the school may create

a channel where in students

may have easy access to all the

video lessons that teachers will

create. After that, he presented

the most popular applications

or software that can be used

in creating video lessons.

This includes filmora sern,

powerdirector, kinemaster,

and the Microsoft Powerpoint.

According to the resource

speaker, MS Powerpoint was

selected for his presentation

because all DepEd personnel

were given a licensed account

of MS office 365.

To prepare for the hand-on

activity of the webinar, Mr.

Escaro gave a two-minute

break for the participants to

set-up their laptops and predownloaded

materials which

are needed in creating a video

lesson. After that, the resource

speaker proceeded with the

demonstration and activities

in creating video lesson using

the MS Powerpoint which

lasted for almost an hour. The

webinar ended with a question

and answer portion and a

virtual awarding of certificate

to the resource speaker.

Indeed, teachers who

participated in this webinar

had a very fruitful day as they

gained new knowledge and

skills that they may use in

fulfilling their roles as teachers

in the new normal.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a huge

challenge to the education system.

Educators are being forced to respond

to this crisis quickly and are turning to

technology for solutions. Finding sustainable,

quality, and flexible learning options that

will help schools weather such challenging

conditions now and in the future.

Mt. View Elementary School takes part in

addressing this challenge through conducting

STRENGTHENING Awareness on Essential

Practices of Living under the New Normal

DR. RONELL D. DELA ROSA

DEAN BPSU GRADUATE SCHOOL

Talking about Positive Psychology

is my first love.” An introductory

statement made by Dr. Ronell D.

Dela Rosa as he talks on another

webinar topic entitled: Strengthening

Awareness on Essential Practices of Living

under the New Normal which was held

through Facebook Live on July 10, 2020.

This is in line with the webinar series

initiated by Mt. View Elementary School as

part of the Brigada Eskwela Program for the

school year 2020-2021.

A great number of participants

enthusiastically joined in the webinar

session as they take advantage of another

opportunity to learn from an exceptional

resource speaker.

Dr. Dela Rosa who is also a registered

nurse pointed out that Positive

Psychology in the community is being

positive at all times, no matter what

circumstances may arise. He affirmed

that it is challenging because imbibing

positivity depends on the level of selfawareness

of a person. He further

explained that to strengthen awareness

under the new normal, one’s strengths

and weak points for improvement must

be identified in order to manage the

present situation.

He regarded new normal as better

“TALKING ABOUT POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY IS MY FIRST LOVE.”

normal because according to him, the

crisis is a life changing scenario that

will bring us to new culture. A culture

in which the center of people’s lives is

interconnectivity that means, internet

is indispensable in this new normal life

for everyone to survive. That in terms

of education, teachers must be aware

on how to teach through the use of

technology to serve their learners who

are very oriented with collaborating

and learning through online. He also

shared his viewpoint about new normal

in a broader sense. And that is, what is

being highlighted during the crisis is the

initiative of everyone to extend a helping

hand to address the need.

In the latter part of the discussion,

he presented a video to give everyone

a clearer perspective of what can be

expected in a post COVID-19 society.

He emphasized that it might be difficult

to adapt the practices in the beginning.

But in the long run, everyone will get

used to it. And that the usual minimum

health standards such as social distancing,

wearing of masks and face shields,

frequent washing of hands, frequent

temperature check upon entering

establishments, frequent hand washing

and sanitizing, and the likes must be

practiced not just for compliance to

the laws being implemented to prevent

the spread of virus. But as part of our

everyday life practices for our health and

safety.

Indeed, it was another fruitful day for

all the participants who attended the

webinar session.

with school

leaders,

community

partners, parents

and students is an

essential aspect

of successfully

implementing

these protocols.

The outbreak of

coronavirus disease

(COVID-19) has been

declared a Public

Health Emergency of

International Concern

(PHEIC) and the virus

has now spread to

many countries and

territories.

While a lot is still

unknown about the

virus that causes

COVID-19, we do

know that it is

transmitted through

direct contact with

respiratory droplets

of an infected person

(generated through

coughing and

sneezing) Individuals

can also be infected

from touching

surfaces contaminated

with the virus and

touching their face

(e.g., eyes, nose,

mouth).

While COVID-19

continues to spread

it is important that

communities take

action to prevent

further transmission,

reduce the impacts

of the outbreak

and support

control measures.

The protection

of children and

educational facilities is

particularly important.

Precautions are

necessary to prevent

the potential spread

of COVID-19 in

school settings;

however, care must

also be taken to

avoid stigmatizing

students and staff

who may have been

exposed to the

virus. It is important

to remember that

COVID-19 does

not differentiate

between borders,

ethnicities, disability

status, age or gender.

Education settings

should continue

to be welcoming,

respectful, inclusive,

and supportive

environments to all.

Measures taken by

schools can prevent

the entry and spread

of COVID-19 by

students and staff

who may have been

exposed to the virus,

while minimizing

disruption and

protecting students

and staff from

discrimination. The

purpose of this

webinar is to provide

clear and actionable

guidance for safe

operations through

the prevention,

early detection and

control of COVID-19

in schools and other

educational facilities.

The guidance,

while specific

to communities

that have already

confirmed the

transmission of

COVID-19, is still

relevant in all other

contexts. Education

can encourage

students to become

advocates for disease

prevention and

control at home, in

school, and in their

community by talking

to others about how

to prevent the spread

of viruses. Maintaining

safe school operations

or reopening schools

after a closure

requires many

considerations but,

if done well, can

promote public

health.

Mountainview Elementary

School spearheaded a

webinar entitled or with a

topic on Organic Fertilizer/

Composting, Plant

Propagation and Urban

Gardening which was held

on July 20, 21 and 22. It

started at one o’clock in

the afternoon and ended at

four o’clock onward. It was

34

attended by many people

from all walks of life. he

discussant, Alvin A. DeLeon,

who happened to be a

teacher from Balsik National

High School was equipped

with knowledge and skills

towards the topic.

THe discussed about

the concepts that follow:

Organic fertilizer and its

definition; Composting ,

Types of Composting and its

Benefits; Urban Gardening, its

Definition, Types and Factors

to consider; and Vegetative

Propagation, its Definition,

Characteristics,

Importance, Types

and Bad effects/

Disadvantages.

According to

the discussant,

composting connotes

the art of making

organic fertilizer from

decomposed organic

materials. Several

kinds of composting

were also mentioned

such as On Site, Aerated

Window Composting, Aerated

Static Pile Composting, Invessel

Composting and

Vermicomposting. He even

mentioned the benefits of

composting at home and in

the community. In addition,

he also explained what is

Urban Gardening. According

to him it is beneficial to man,

community and environment.

He emphasized that with

or without enough space at

home , we can still plant as

long as there are available

containers for plants.

Trash such as plastic bag,

bottled water broken pail,

old basin, casserole can be

used as containers in Urban

Gardening. This minimized

the garbages at home and in

the community.

Furthermore, a topic about

Vegetative Propagation

was also discussed by the

discussant. According to him

it is a cloning, vegetative

reproduction and vegetative

multiplication. There are

two kinds of Vegetative

Propagation that can be used

to propagate plants. These

are the Natural means and

Artificial means. In

the first kind we

can use runners,

bulbs, corms, keikis,

cuttings and grafting.

Whereas the latter

we have marcotting

and layering. In the

last part of his talk he

demonstrated how

to do marcotting and

grafting. That, he

gained the all eyed of

the audience and participants

making the topic more

interesting and enjoyable.

After each session in three

consecutive days, there

was a question and answer

portion where the attendees

addressed their queries to

the speaker/facilitator. There

were activities to tackle

where attendees engaged

themselves supportively.

The webinar was truly

a successful one because

everyone who joined wore a

smile and learned something

about it.
