Activities
*Second Step: We will be using the Second Step curriculum 2-3 times per week, this
curriculum works on social/emotional development, empathy, emotion management, and
problem solving through role plays, games, and other activities.
*Art: There will be specific projects offered on a weekly basis as well as art supplies
available for the children’s use during free choice time.
*Gym/Outside: We have a weekly morning gym schedule, there will be days where
children will be required to spend some time in the gym or outside & there will be times
where children will be able to choose to go or not go to the gym/outside. Generally in the
afternoon gym/outside will be an optional activity.
*Computer lab: AC has the use of the computer lab when Eagle Point is not using the
computers for testing. All children who have an internet agreement form on file with the
school will have the opportunity to use the computers when we offer that choice. In
addition to the computer lab we have 2 computers (without internet) in our space. Time
on the computer is limited to one turn in the morning and one in the afternoon per child.
*Homework & reading: Each afternoon during snack the children will be given the
option of listening to a book being read, reading on their own, or working on homework.
*Group time: 2-3 times per week in the afternoon we will break into small groups (by
age) and doing a short activity (game or art/craft) for 20-30 minutes. This gives the
children an opportunity to spend time specifically with AC children close to their own
age as well as get to know staff better.
*Service projects-A few times throughout the year children will be given an opportunity
to work together on service projects- last year we collected items and wrote letters to

service members, organized a food drive, and helped decorate for the Eagle Point
Volunteer Breakfast. This year we may try something new-all ideas welcome!
*Talent Show- In late winter/early spring the children will begin signing up and
practicing for our annual talent show. This is a child driven project, the staff supervise
but do very little in the way of planning and organizing.
