NOVEMBER 2020

PERSPECTIVE

FROM THE FRONTLINES

From Our Executive Director, Ed Hosack

INFLUENCING FUTURE OUTCOMES

Influencing the future. It's

not Hocus-Pocus; it's Hard

Work and Persistence. In

fact, it's a lot of work; it

requires patient study and

effective decision making.

We live our lives today

exceeding the speed limit

and watching the car in

front of us. We react to

the changes that occur directly in our path,

because the best reactor will be the most

successful.

Strategic foresight requires the discipline to

approach life differently. To step away from

the controls long enough to study the horizon

for factors or conditions that will influence the

journey. Try this while you are operating at

full speed and you will crash. It is not difficult,

however, when you take the time to study the

horizon, to see the mountains or the storm

clouds in the distance.

Being aware of those future realities gives us

the opportunity to make decisions and take

actions that will impact the outcomes of our

endeavors. That is how CCM has developed our

Vision for Cabarrus County in 2030.

CCM’s Board of Directors launched in October

an initiative to develop our “2025 New

Horizon” Strategic Plan that will move us

toward the 10-year vision.

Goals, objectives, strategies and action steps

will be identified and outlined through prayers

for discernment and the help of our community

partners.

We look forward to executing that plan with all

of you.

COMING IN FEBRUARY...

CCM's 2025 "New Horizons" Strategic Plan

From Our Director Of

Community Engagement,

Jeremy Burleson

COLLABORATION

As I stepped away

after nearly 20 years of

working in the corporate

business sector, I carried

one very significant

accomplishment of my

career with a prodigious sense of importance…

that being the relationships which were built

over that span.

Those relationships were built on three

meaningful, but simple, attributes of success:

trust, communication and shared common

goals. Thankfully, the aims of the network

of churches here in Cabarrus and southern

Rowan counties and CCM do indeed share

commonality; to share the goodness and grace

of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through our

respective ministries.

God has provided us a pathway to a successful

relationship by way of that shared objective.

A 2030 Vision for this community as well as

a Strategic Plan of collaboration toward that

Vision, is now up to US.

With that, how can CCM play a part

in your church’s community outreach

and local missions plan?

Let’s meet… Let’s talk… Let’s have coffee…

Let’s have lunch… most importantly, let’s PRAY

together!

I hope for many opportunities ahead to meet

each of you personally and share the latest

direction of Cooperative Christian Ministry

(CCM) to your body of believers. I believe that

God will continue to reward our discernment

and diligence immensely and that HE has

something special in store!

TOGETHER

WE STAND UNITED

NOVEMBER CRISIS UPDATE

CCM continues to operate under the COVID response

models in our food, financial and housing programs. In

September, we added part-time staff to increase our

service delivery.

Applications for financial assistance to address rent

and utilities continue to challenge our capacity to

serve.

To date, CCM has provided more

than $656,000 in (rent/utilities)

financial relief to over 700

households averaging $936 per

household.

Ninety-one percent (91%) of those

requests are COVID related. More

than half (52%) are first time

requests with CCM.

CCM is committed to continue delivering a very high level of crisis relief

through the end of 2020 and into 2021!

HOUSING

IS KEY

As we persevere the current economic crisis, we must choose to address the need

for emergency and extremely low fixed-income housing in Cabarrus County. We must

expand our resources to stabilize households and restore healthy lives.

Please join our Housing Initiative

Mallory's Story

Years of enduring verbal and emotional

abuse, which she justified for the sake of

the children, led to bouts of anxiety and

depression. When her husband decided

he did not want to be married anymore,

the painful reality released her from the

emotional entrapment. Feeling helpless

and very much alone, Mallory turned to My

Father’s House for a place for herself and

her two children.

She had a good job and paid most of the

household bills, including the car payment.

Her desire for her children to continue

their relationship with their father was her

reason for an attempt to reconcile with her

husband only to see the abuse intensify.

Mallory returned to CCM and progressed to

the Mothers & Children housing program.

Mallory began focusing on the priorities

that would stabilize life for herself and her

children. One of Mallory's goals was to

establish their own home where her two

children could have their own rooms.

Today Mallory and her children are building

stability in their three bedroom home in

CCM's Teaching Housing program. While

managing her finances and providing for

her family, Mallory has paid off her car and

other related debts, improved her income

and saved significant dollars as part of her

plan to achieve housing independence for

herself and her family.

"Give thanks to the LORD for He is good; His love endures forever."
