New challenges demand new solutions. As the United
States and the world have adapted to living and
working during a pandemic, the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem has adopted new ways to teach remotely,
and American Friends of the Hebrew University
has adopted new ways to stay connected with
American friends.
AFHU staff across the country have acclimated
to the new circumstances, maintaining office
functions remotely, creating online Zoom meetings
with supporters, coordinating one-on-one meetings
between major donors and HU professors, planning
virtual parlor meetings, and creating content to inform
and engage our physically-distancing AFHU family.
Webinars have proven to be an engaging way to
connect American Friends with the Hebrew University.
AFHU/HU webinars have covered a wide variety of
topics, including:
Jewish Life in Germany: Then and Now: An
exploration of how the Holocaust experience colors
our world: the past, through German Jewish life;
and the present, through the experience of Israeli
scientists in Germany.
Coronavirus and the Future of Immunotherapy
with Professor Isaiah T. (Shy) Arkin, Arthur Lejwa
Professor of Structural Biochemistry at the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem and the former Vice-President
for Research and Development at the University.
AFHU offers webinar topics as varied as the
academic disciplines found at the Hebrew University
