ACTION A.II.1 – YOUTH INITIATIVES
_ 23 _
YOUTH FOR EUROPE PROGRAMME
BELGIUM
Description
Reform, a youth organisation recognised by the French Community of Belgium, is starting a regional centre in the Hainaut province
of Belgium. It wants to encourage young people from the region to take part in its activities. To this end it has developed a vast
programme for integration, namely within the framework of projects such as ''Young people from town and country'', or activities for
artistic creation, practical training periods, general training and cultural events.
10 young people from the Hainaut region aged between 18 and 23 from schools in diverse sociocultural areas would like to create
and present, in cooperation with their partners from Seville (E), a mutli-lingual and multi-media show. This will provide them with
the opportunity to hold active discussions on the issue of intercultural communication and European citizenship. This project aims to
make the young people aware of the risks that exist in relation to exclusion whilst motivating them to find solutions to this by
building on the past and the future of the different Community countries.
Project theme(s) Art and culture, Rural communities, Youth and children, Social exclusion in general
BENEFICIARY LES FAUCONS ROUGES DE LA RIVE DROITE DE FLEMALLE
Description
This association is a local group of forty or so young people aged between 14 and 20 who meet regularly in order to carry out
sporting, cultural or recreational activities. As this group is well settled in the region it comes into contact with young people who
do not usually participate in youth movements.
The project involves setting up metalwork workshops open to young people on the fringe of society in order to counteract street
crime to some extent, by helping the young people find a positive image of themselves in relation to their social and cultural
backgrounds. It also aims to increase their awareness of the advantages involved in recycling and expose them to the various forms
of expression offered by artistic creation. The end of the artistic workshops will be marked by the erection of their group work in
one of the town squares.
