SCI Italy is the Italian branch of the ''Service Civil International'', a non-governmental organisation, member of UNESCO and the<br />
Council of Europe. The activity proposed here is for 15 volunteers from 4 European countries (I, D,B,E) to organise activities with<br />
the children hosted in a community in Castel Volturno a small village in Campania (South of Italy). During the programme the<br />
volunteers will be involved in training sessions in order to give them the opportunity to get to know each other better and to<br />
understand the concept of voluntary work, of intercultural learning, the philosophy of the organisation and compare different points<br />
of view. The foreign participants will have the opportunity to get to know a different way of life, to see how problems in that area<br />
are handled and to learn to respect each others point of view.<br />

Description<br />
The applicant, Siepakat, is a folkdance and music association situated in Lapland, Northern-Finland that works with children,<br />
young people and adults. They organise folk dance and music groups, festivals, seminars at local and international level. The<br />
volunteer is a voluntary worker from the association. The hosting structure is Frommern a similar organisation in Balinge in<br />
Germany which fosters the folkdance culture and organises different activies in the youth field, as well as multicultural events. The<br />
background of the volunteer and the experience of the hosting structure provides a good basis for the project. The voluntary period<br />
involves: working with children and young people; taking part in the daily activities of the hosting organisation, such as cultural<br />
education of folkdance and music on national heritage issues; youth work among the young people in the locality; taking part in<br />
seminars and training. The volunteer will be involved in the arrangements of the international folk dance festival.<br />

Description<br />
UNAIYS is a registered charity working in international and European youth work in local communities. The main working area is<br />
international short term voluntary service projects, involving the volunteers in local work of various sorts. The project this time<br />
concerns a multiple placement of 12 young volunteers from DK, FIN, F, DE, NL and UK, in South Wales working on a play<br />
project running in the Penywaun area. The young volunteers will receive initial training and will then, alongside local workers and<br />
volunteers, work with children and youngsters from 5-14 years old in their after-school play activities. The young European<br />
volunteers will stay in a community house and take part in the local activities and social life of the hosting community.<br />
