Mrs. Doubtfire – The Musical Comedy
At Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre
Saturday, June 15, 2024 LIMITED SPACE
Everyone’s favorite Scottish nanny is coming to Los
Angeles in Mrs. Doubtfire, the feel-good, familyfriendly
new musical comedy based on the beloved
film starring Robin Williams. Step into a world of
laughter, love, and heartwarming moments when
an out-of-work actor proves he’ll do anything for
his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce,
he creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny
Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to
stay in their lives. As his new character takes on
a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel
more than he bargained for about holding onto
your loved ones against all odds. The catchy tunes
and delightful characters along with an hysterical
and heartfelt story, make this a must see show.
We’ll enjoy orchestra level seating for this matinee
performance at Hollywood’s legendary Pantages
Theatre. Prior to the performance, we’ll stop for a
quick bite at the FIGat7th complex in downtown
L.A. This complex features a variety of take-andgo
eateries within its TASTE food hall and offers
plenty of indoor and outdoor dining areas, so you
are welcome to bring a lunch with you or purchase
lunch from one of the eateries at FIGat7th.
Chicken Pot Pie
and memorable food adventures – leads the way
on this deep dive into San Diego history and the
local “pie” scene. After a scenic drive down the
coast, we’ll enjoy an included early lunch (approximately
11:00 a.m.) with choice of entrée
(chicken pot pie, vegetable pot pie or crispy
chicken salad) at the legendary San Diego Chicken
Pie Shop in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood.
This local institution that opened in
1938 has used the same homestyle recipe for its
famous chicken pot pies ever since. Stuffed with
chicken, turkey, and smothered in savory gravy,
the pot pie comes with whipped potatoes, a side
of vegetables, cole slaw and a pie shop roll. We’ll
continue to Balboa Park, the sprawling urban
oasis adorned with lush gardens and stunning
Spanish Revival architecture. Here, we’ll learn
about the park’s history, intricate landscaping,
amusing anecdotes and little-known facts while
taking in eyefuls of gorgeous scenery. We’ll explore
Liberty Public Market at historic Liberty
Station and learn how a former naval base was
transformed into this bustling marketplace. At
Cabrillo National Monument we’ll indulge in a
gourmet sweet treat from a local pie shop while
savoring the panoramic views of San Diego Bay,
Coronado and the Pacific Ocean. Located at
the southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula,
this monument commemorates the landing of
Portuguese explorer, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo
at San Diego Bay in 1542. At the San Diego
waterfront, we’ll stroll along the Greatest Generation
Walk to admire several Navy-themed art
installations. Undoubtedly, the largest and most
colorful of the memorials is “Embracing Peace,”
a 25-foot-tall, 6,000-pound statue that stands
against the imposing backdrop of the USS Midway
aircraft carrier. It features a Navy sailor kissing
a nurse – designed after the famous photo
taken in Times Square on V-J Day. We’ll also see
the National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military,
16 larger-than-life bronze figures that represent
a typical road show with Bob entertaining
troops near the front. In the Gaslamp Quarter,
we’ll encounter Victorian-era architecture blended
seamlessly with modern-day allure, labyrinthine
streets, hidden gems and perhaps even a
ghost story or two. Here we’ll enjoy an ice cream
treat from a shop that features a mouthwatering
array of pie-inspired flavors like banana cream,
key lime, and coconut cream. It’s the perfect way
to cap off a day filled with culinary delights and
awe-inspiring sights, ensuring memories that will
endure long after the last bite has been savored.
Gluten-free alternatives can be provided if notice is
provided at least one week prior to departure. Tasting
locations and menu subject to change. This tour
involves moderate walking. Price: $159 Depart:
Blueberry Picking
Wine, Cupcakes & Lavender
Santa Ynez Valley Blueberry
& Lavender Farms
With Wine & Cupcake Pairing
Thursday, June 20, 2024
Escape for the day to the Santa Ynez Valley, the
secluded region of rolling hills dotted with horse
ranches, vineyards, olive trees, Scrub oak, and
early California-style architecture. Enjoy an included
boxed lunch, as well as an opportunity
to pick your own blueberries (for an additional
fee on-site) at a 16-acre u-pick berry farm nestled
in-between rolling hills of majestic oak trees.
Recognized as one of the best u-pick farms in
the country by USA Today, the farm features a
farm store where you can purchase freshly picked
berries, stone fruit and jams. This afternoon
we’ll continue to a working lavender farm and
learn how the lavender is grown, harvested and
distilled into an oil known for its culinary and
healing qualities, with an opportunity to pick
your own bundle of lavender (for an additional
fee on-site). The lavender shop here sells a variety
of lavender products including essential oils,
lotions, soaps, sachets, and more. Later, we’ll
arrive in Los Olivos, the charming and historic
town tucked into the picturesque Santa Ynez
Valley. At a family-owned tasting room in town
we’ll enjoy an included wine tasting paired with
wine-infused cupcakes! Featuring a 1940s feel
(you can imagine Jimmy Stewart enjoying a
vintage), the winery parlays humor and family
tradition into their wines with loving names like
“Father”, “Son”, “Mother” and “1945” (when
their grandparents married). Your “flight” of 6
miniature cupcakes – all prepared on the premises
– will include three vanilla-based cupcakes
and three chocolate-based cupcakes with flavors
such as Cherry Vanilla Merlot, Blueberry Lemon
Chardonnay and Chocolate Blackberry Syrah
