vitality. Paseo Nuevo is Santa Barbara’s Mediterranean-style,<br />

outdoor shopping center that features<br />

like Stearns Wharf, Butterfly Beach, the beautiful<br />

Mission Santa Barbara, and the elegant County<br />

Courthouse, just to name a few!<br />

Optional Santa Barbara Zoo<br />

Or take advantage of an optional visit to the<br />

Santa Barbara Zoo this afternoon. This 30-acre<br />

zoo with a view was once a posh estate owned<br />

by a coffee and tea merchant and is now the lush<br />

domain of over 500 animals exhibited in open,<br />

naturalistic habitats. Some of the most popular<br />

exhibits include The Australian Walkabout featuring<br />

koalas, kangaroos, emus and wallabies in a<br />

walkable habitat, The Forest’s Edge housing two<br />

male Western lowland gorillas, and the Humboldt<br />

Penguin colony with penguins from the<br />

coast of South America that like it “Chile,” not<br />

This memorable experience at the state-of-the-art<br />

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum<br />

begins with a delicious barbecue-style buffet lunch<br />

including hand-carved tri-tip, barbecue chicken,<br />

garlic mashed potatoes, creamy cole slaw, barbecue<br />

baked beans, house-baked cheddar corn muffins<br />

and chocolate fudge brownies beneath the<br />

wing of Air Force One. A docent-guided tour will<br />

highlight artifacts within the museum’s 18 galleries<br />

that pay tribute to America’s 40th president.<br />

Visit a full-scale replica of Reagan’s Oval Office,<br />

see a piece of the Berlin Wall, explore interactive<br />

exhibits, read letters written by President Reagan<br />

to Nancy, pay your respects at their final resting<br />

place and admire spectacular views of the Conejo<br />

Valley. The Air Force One Pavilion features a<br />

presidential limousine, a secret service vehicle, a<br />

Marine One helicopter, the world’s first operational<br />

stealth aircraft, the F-117 Nighthawk, and<br />

a walk-through of the Air Force One airplane<br />

that served seven U.S. Presidents. On view for<br />

a limited time is the new exhibition, Star Wars<br />

and SDI: Defending America and the Galaxy. This<br />

fun and informative exhibition features both the<br />

real-world technology of SDI (President Reagan’s<br />

Strategic Defense Initiative), as well as items from<br />

the movie phenomenon. See original items from<br />

SDI including an authentic Command Launch<br />

Equipment Console as well as props, costumes<br />

and concept art from the Star Wars franchise,<br />

including a Landspeeder, Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber<br />

and an original script signed by David Prose<br />
